Nice light shorts
I recently went on a vacation and used these shorts at the pool and beach because don't like to walk around with little bikini bottoms on and don't like the inner liner in some of the other actual swim shorts. These dry quickly and remain comfortable all day. I am 5'1" 110 and got the 4 and are loose. I didn't want them fitting when running around the beach and pool. I have had these shorts in the past and wear them for all sorts of activities in the summer. I like the colors but beware the color that looks red is actually more of a pink color so I sent those back and kept the turquoise color. Very nice shorts.
Dream shorts for playing in the water!
Shorts don't get any better than this for romping in the surf. They don't fall off no matter what, things can't fall out of the zip pockets, and they dry fairly quickly. I wear quick dry string bikini panties underneath - not as convenient as swim shorts that have built in liners - but makes these shorts more versatile - I can wear them like normal shorts if I don't want to go swimming. I got these in razzle purple to go with the razzle purple Rio castaway bikini top, and they make for a really cute, practical yet atrractive suit. As far as sizing is concerned, they do run big - but then so do most of the Athleta bottoms which I have purchased, including the whatever skort and the dipper pant - I measure out to a 6, but find that a 4 fits better. I weigh about 126-130 lbs, am 5'6", and at 55 have a bit of a belly - 29-30" waist, 37.5" hips. I don't mind the outer drawstring - it helps with the fit and is more convenient than an internal drawstring.
Fantastic swim shorts
Last summer I bought the Breeze shorts in Black and used them as my bathing suit bottom all summer long. I loved them so much that this summer I also bought them in the olive color. I wear a bikini bottom underneath, and the Breeze shorts on top. I love that they are sporty and cute, but I don't have to think twice about coverage when I'm running around with my kids at the pool or the beach. The shorts are very comfortable and lightweight, and can easily be worn as regular shorts out and about. There is a drawstring waist to customize the fit. If Athleta begins making these in navy blue, I'm buying that color, too! When available I buy Athleta clothes in size tall, but the regular in this fits just fine.
My "go to" shorts
I bought two pairs of these shorts a couple of years ago and they are still my favorite shorts. I bought a bright green pair and an orange pair and the colors are beautiful. I'm 5'6" and weigh 140 lbs and bought and 8. I have a thick waist and narrow hips. The waist is a tad loose but the tie cinches them up just enough. These shorts move with my every move but don't stretch out. They wash and dry nicely with no wrinkles and look as good as the day I bought them. No fading or stretching.
Great for swim shorts
I purchased these as swim shorts / cover up shorts. I am self conscious about my butt, and prefer swim shorts now that I am "older". These will make perfect swim shorts as they are a nice, light, and comfortable fabric with a bit of "give" to them and they will dry quickly. I am 5' 9" and 170#, 42" butt. The size 14 is a good fit for me. I just wish that Athleta had an option somewhere between the 4" inseam and the "Bermuda" option of these Breeze shorts which has a 12" inseam. A 6"-7" inch length would be so wonderful for those of us who want a bit longer length but don't want the almost to your kneecap length. Overall I am happy with them and they will certainly provide more coverage than a mere swimsuit bottom.
The perfect pair of shorts for ... athletic women
I am 52 years old, 5'1", athletic, 130 lbs but muscular. I fit into a size 2. I read through the reviews and saw the trend of these shorts running on the large side. I usually take a 4, and these size 2's fit me like a 4 so take heed! These shorts are nothing but flattering even for a woman of my age. Most shorts are either too ... too long. I want to show off my legs but not hang out of my shorts, and these do the trick. You do have to have a rather flat behind, however, so be forewarned. I wish the other colors were available in my size!
Great Shorts!
I saw these shorts in one of the promo emails I received from Athleta. It promised that these are one of the most popular items. So, I decided to give them a try. I needed a pair of functional shorts that I can wear when setting up races for a local running club. The material is awesome - deceptively thin but very durable. Also, sometimes thinner fabrics can make you feel indecent but this is NOT the case with these shorts. The pockets with zippers are very useful. I needed these pockets to stash various must have items during race day set up/load out. Last, these shorts dry so quickly. Another plus when working in hot weather. Bottom line, I can see why these shorts are so popular - they deliver comfort, style, functionality, durability and can be worn for both work and play.
Super Shorts!
I Love these shorts! The material is lightweight and the cut is flattering. These shorts will be great for everyday wear, but mostly for summer activities by the pool or at the beach. I'm at the beach a lot, so I like to have a pair of shorts to throw on over my suit that are lightweight, attractive, and comfortable. I walk my dogs on the beach, so the pockets come in handy for treats and pick up baggies. They are quick drying as well, so they'll be great to wear on the boat! I'm 5'3" and weigh 120 lbs and ordered a size 4 which fit perfectly, with a little room in the waist. The shorts fall on the hip more than on the waist, which is typically a more flattering look. The color blue is really pretty, but I'm sure I'll be ordering them in other colors as well!

Love, love, love these shorts! I usually go for bermuda length shorts and wanted to try something a little shorter. These shorts are perfect! They are very flattering and very comfortable. I am going to buy a pair in every color!!
The best all around ...
WOW!! I can not say enough about these shorts! I looked for 2 days straight trying on over 30 pairs of shorts to wear as a bikini coverup while in resturaunts at the beach. After giving up I ordered these and they are a perfect fit. EXACTLY what I was looking for. The size is true- I am 36.5 hip and 27 waist and it was a perfect fit. Roomy, but not baggy as others listed. It dried quick, super lightweight for everyday summer wear and fell very nice. It does not cling to you like other water shorts do, even when wet. I hope to be able to buy the longer version as well. The material is also soft and doesn't make noise when you walk. PERFECT!!!!!!
Breeze ...
I got two pair of these shorts as I am having a very hard time finding shorts/pants/skirts that fit me. I am a 0 or a 2 petite and not all items are available in a petite. These are a bit loose in the waist and the crotch is a bit long (that's where the petite comes into play with comfort). They fit ok, but the waist is a bit loose so the tie helps alot, but then the string from the tie makes a bit of a lump in the front, making it look like I have a pooched out belly. I'm not crazy about tucking shirts in but have found that I need to so as not to have that pooch. I love the fabric and ease of the shorts and know they will be amazingly comfy on those really hot and humid days.
