Superhero grade cycling capris
I'm on the website for a 2nd pair. These are lightly padded and wear well on or off the saddle. I use these for road cycling to get to the store and for my Saturday rides, for 40 minutes to 2.5 hours in the saddle. Wash cold and hang dry, they're just like new. Had my first pair for 4 months now and they look like I just took the tag off. I'm 5'1", 28" inseam, 126 lbs and wear the small. I have 14" calves and the openings stay right at the calf without riding up at all. I love these cycling capris. I do have a pink line across the calves when I take them off but it's not uncomfortable. They don't chafe, the rise is moderate and hits just under my belly button and above my front pelvic bones (the anterior interior iliac spines for the anatomically correct). Two weeks ago I ate it after a too long moment of hesitation and a poor decision, landing hard on my right side. I opened up my ankle but my hip was protected by these shorts and they didn't even get scuffed, much less ripped! Next day my chiropractor found my right leg 3/4" longer than my left and adjusted accordingly. These shorts are that good. If you experience chafing at the inner thigh try them sans underwear. Great capris, I'd recommend them to anyone.

Spin Knickers are the Best!!!
These capris are the best I have found. Look great on, not too padded and bulky in the rear. I have been spinning for 6+ years and refuse to buy a pair of biking shorts because of the way the look (like you are wearing a diaper). These capris are flattering, fit well and feel great. When I get off my bike there is no embarrassing sweat stain on my crotch either. I like the black and plan to order 2 more pair just to have because I love them so much. My one word to Athlleta...Loose the graphics on the back waistband.

Well, the reviews had me nervous! But I was already ordering something else and these were on sale, so I decided to gamble and try them despite all the reviews about the "bunching in the crotch" issue. (Plus, I'd already bought the Spin Shorts and loved them, so I figured I'd be safe with the Capris.) I am SO glad I did! These are very nice cooler weather cycling capris! And I LOVE the gem blue!!! Super cute alternative to the plain, traditional, boring old black. The fabric is nice and thick and the cut is very flattering/slimming. They are just the perfect length! They stay in place and the legs do not ride up or roll. I like the lighter rear padding (not so bulky) for spin class and shorter rides and I do NOT have ANY issue with them bunching up inappropriately or puckering in an unflattering way. (I guess I lucked out, but I own them in two colors now and neither has this problem as described by others.) My favorite feature is the fun "tattoo" across your lower back, just below the rear waistline! So cute! The only problem was that right out of the package, the exposed front seams were ragged and rough (poorly made). I actually couldn't believe they had passed Athleta's quality control! Everything else I own has always been very well made. I would absolutely have sent them back or exchanged them, but I loved the color and there were no more in my size. So... A few minutes of trimming with my fabric shears and now they look perfect! So I kept them and am happy. If it helps, I am (almost) 5'5" and 116 pounds... I measure 25" waist and 36" hips and the XS fits perfectly!

Great buy!
I just started spinning a few weeks ago and bought this ... after reading the reviews. I love it!! Usually the cycling shorts/capris are too tight, both around the waist and legs creating bulges and muffin tops but not this one. It fits like a dream. A little looser than I am used to for cycling, but they look and feel amazing. The chamois is just perfect for spinning and not too big. The rise and leg length are ultra comfortable, and stayed in place during the class. All in all I am very happy with my purchase. I am 5'8 and 140lbs and bought the medium.

Wasn''t impressed
I have been looking for a pair of capris with some padding for spin class. These fit nice except for the pad. It bunched up in the crease of my legs which caused the middle to look funny. Almost as if the pad was too wide between the legs which caused it to look like it was going up where it shouldn't be. The pants would have been better without the pad in them. Returning them. The length was good and not too tight around the calves. Maybe if I looked like the model they would have been a perfect fit.

Disappointed
I teach spin classes and when weather permists, we take our bikes outside. I wanted some capris to wear as the summer ended and cooler weather was setting in. I am 5'7", 138 lbs., atheletic build. I ordered M but the calves were loose and just fit funky. I also thought that the waist was high. So I ordered the S and was still disappointed. The calves fit better but the waist still seemed high. Not happy enough to keep them for the price.
strange fit
I'm a pretty standard "medium". I'm 5'5" 125 lbs and generally I don't have problems with fit. These fit fine in the waist and butt but the padding was really weird. One is was too thin (what's the point then?) and two, it made you look like you had a c toe in front. I was not walking around in the gym like that!. The other thing, the calves were too big. I had them just hanging around my calves. I normally would be ok with that but they had the weird sticky rubber band around the inside of the calves so that they would cling better to your leg and it didn't feel right. Bad fit overall- for me. I'll stick without padding and wear my cheap [@] C9 capris that fit my legs better.
