I was looking for an attractive rash guard to wear on vacation in Hawaii for water activities. I am 6 feet tall and have a hard time finding things long enough. In the other Gap brands I typically wear a M Tall. After looking at other reviews saying this ran small I ordered a Large. There is no Tall option on this one. I also ordered the Hopkinton top in a M Tall at the same time. The Hopkinton top was the correct size in the M Tall but I much preferred the style of this rash guard. I liked the option of making the waist as long or as short as I liked. Being tall that was a plus. I also really liked the zipper at the neckline. The Large was OK but a little snug in the chest and I am by no means large chested. I went back and ordered the XL just to see. At [$] I figured I wanted to make sure I was happy with the purchase. I am glad I did because the XL was surprisingly perfect. Not too tight and not too loose. Sleeves could be a tad longer but totally livable. If you normally are an XL girl I would pass on this one. The purple color is also very pretty and versatile. I am looking forward to using this.

5 stars Baby!!! Don't even read the other reviews like I did.....I almost decided not to order this piece because several of the reviews........THIS ITEM IS A MUST HAVE AND FITS TRUE TO SIZE!!!! Being in retail I have noticed that most people who don't like an item or the fit of a certain item are simply trying on the WRONG size. So people....STOP worrying about the letter or number inside an article of clothing and get something that fits!!! Okay....off to order this in another color, I have the pink one so far size small.....I say super true to size and I LOVE IT!!! I am 5'4" 124lbs. with a rather larger chest =)
Designed to be snug, so order up!!
I initially ordered the garden green in size M. I was not impressed with the color or the fit, so I exchanged for the black in size L. (I normally wear a size xs or s top and size 6 bottom). I wore it recently to the pool and the fit is just right even when wet. It gives me the sun protection I desire without being clingy in the wrong places. I feel comfortable in and out of the water!
body hugging fit, fashionable styling
I really like the slight mock neck, the long front zipper, and the elegant asphalt color. I have Athleta tops and dresses from this season in the 2-XS S range. I ordered this in a size S, which is my default ... athletic brand tops. I'm about 110lbs and 34B, broad shoulders and narrow hips. This top has a body hugging fit (without looking too tight) and fits more snugly than the Summer Shade Tee in the same ... Although they fit differently, I think the ... appropriate based on what I had in mind. If this item were not fit snugly, I think it would be baggy and bulky, especially with the ruching, and it would probably weigh a ton when wet (I haven't used it in the water yet). The fabric is on the verge of being too heavy and too thick for the style, so I removed one star for that fact.
Love this top!
This top is overall great. It is fast drying and keeps the sun off of you. I love the adjustable length, too. However, as other people have noted it does run small. I am plus size and ordered the 2X. It is a little snug (like a swim suit) but since you are wearing it to the beach, I think that's expected. One more thing, I wisn it was a bit cooler. I have the UV groovy hoodie from last year and that keeps me much cooler than this does.
Too Small
Very cute, very colorful...but way too tight!! It is crazy small. I kept thinking maybe it was ... wrong,,,but no it is just cut that small. I don't mind somewhat tight, like other dry wick type workout shirts. But I would have passed out poolside in this shirt at some point it was that tight. Seems strange that we can't quite get the ... thing down? Ordered swim bottoms at the same time and they were oversized. Very frustrating having to pack things back up to send back, plus the trip to the UPS store. Ugh.
