plus size swimwear - reviews

Great color and great fit
I bought this shirred ... skirt in chartreuse, along with the other bottoms and tankini in the Banzai Pipeline series. All the bottoms fit perfectly. I ordered the entire series in extra small; and the fits were spot on perfect. I am very petite in weight and height; and it is great to be able to find such a wide selection of swimwear in petite ... Good quality of all the pieces in the collection, too.

Fabulously Happy
I am preparing for a trip to Aruba and I just received my new swimwear. I couldn't be happier! At 52 carrying 137 pounds this bottom is fabulous. I was looking for something that was comfortable and attractive and this is it. The fit is perfect ... better than I expected. I also bought the scrunch bikini top and it is wonderful as well. I will continue ordering from Athleta.

Not frumpy on me
I got the size XS based on the hips measurement on the size chart, and it fits well. I typically wear size S running shorts in major athletic brands, but XS works for me with this skirt and a pair of Athleta Splash swim shorts that I also bought. I debated between this skirt and the Splash skirt, and I'm glad I chose this one. The front of the waistband is flatter than on the Splash series. I don't mind the fluffy waist detail on the shorts (and I'm keeping the shorts, too) but I wanted something sleeker for the skirt. The skirt looks sleek and sporty, not frilly or matronly. The rise is just right--low, but not too low. I'm pairing the skirt with a running swim top, so a sporty appearance was what I wanted. I was afraid that the skirt would be too long because I'm only 5'2", but it's just long enough to cover the tops of my thighs. The total outseam of the XS is just under 10.5 inches.

Another great purchase!
When it comes to swimwear, I find I always have to get a medium bottom, but in this case, I found it was too large, overall, and had to exchange it for a small. The small fit perfectly and it's so cute an versative. I bought it in black and can wear it with a variety of my other bathing suit tops -- it goes well with everything. It allows a little extra coverage than a standard bikini bottom and is very comfortable.

just right swim skirt
This skirt fits true to size. I am a size 4 and I ordered the size S. It's a pretty basic swim skirt with a built in panty. It seems comfortable and will be a good addition to my swim wear collection.

Great swim skirt
I bought this in two colors (sangria and black) this season to go with tankini tops. I'm not 20 anymore, so I like the coverage this gives me without making me look like an old lady. The fabric is beautiful (all my Athleta swimwear seems to last forever and look great!) and I like the style with the front crossover flap and tiny bit of shirring on the waistband which is not just plain, but interesting and yet simple. The inside is fully lined with lime green fabric. I like that it fits securely, but the "waist" doesn't make bulges on my not-20-anymore had-4-kids hips. I'm 5'5", 120 lbs, and I fit a size 6 in Athleta pants. I usually go up a ... swim bottoms and the medium fit me perfectly.

Long Dry Time
Great sport utility plus coverage. Perfect for surfing. My only complaint is it has a long dry time. Longer than expected. If it could dry quicker, it would be perfect!

Great Fit and great for my ego
Love this swim skirt! I am a classic pear shape (size 4 on top and size 6 on the bottom). So, I usually have to buy separates in swimwear so I can get different ... whenever I buy swim bottoms and other pants that are ... S, M L, that need to fit the "hip" area, I always buy a Medium just to be sure they will fit nicely (not too tight). Well, after reading many reviews on this skirt, I VERY hesitantly ordered a Size Small hoping that I wouldn't have to return it for a Medium (and being concerned that a Medium wouldn't be right either because of my 23" waist!) I was VERY HAPPY when I tried this swimskirt on and it fit almost perfectly! The only thing is that I can see a little of the panty line ... but I'm sure once I tone up some more, that issue will be resolvedI I also wish Athleta prices were a little more affordable ... I would surely order more items. I will definitely be a return customer, though!

great little skirt- little and may want to size up...
really great for hiding any flaws on the bottom half without looking to frumpy. sexy and cute. built in bottom is a little too snug for me, even though the waist fits- no "muffin top". I will be ordering up a size to see if that alleviates the too tight bottom. even if i were stuck with this size, it still would be doable! so, I will follow up with a review on the larger size. if it works, it will get 5 stars. Hopefully the waist will not be too big.... I only buy athleta swim suits. I have purchased MANY. lots of bottoms and shirrendipity halters. I am just trying the skirts this year and determined to make them work because I am 43 and have had 3 kids!

great ... bottom option for "mature women"
I'm closing in on 50, and have had to reevaluate my choices in swimwear. Up until now, I've always felt comfortable in 2 piece suits, but reality hits, and I wanted to find a suit that was more age appropriate without being "matronly". These bottoms are perfect. They provide nice coverage over the backside and upper thigh areas! Great fit, flattering and sporty. I usually wear a ... 4/6. Smalls fit good.

Sorry to say I''ll need to return this item.
Impressed with the quality of the material, and I liked the style a whole lot, BUT for a plus size, its too short, I need it about 12 to 1 inch longer to cover more skin that I do not want exposed, nor does the public.
