Great for this tall chick!
I'm 6'0, 140 and love that Athleta has tall pants. Unfortunately, they don't carry tall tops. So, it's hit or miss if anything will fit my top half. I ordered this coat on a whim since the sale price is fabulous and I'm so glad I did. I normally am a size medium but went with a large in this to hopefully get enough sleeve length. Much to my surprise, the shoulder seam sits right where it should (edge of my shoulder) and the sleeves are long enough for my very long arms. The chest area even fits fine (I'm a 32D). The waist and hip area is a little loose, which is to be expected since I sized up, and that's an easy fix for a seamstress. So, for anyone considering buying this, I would say this coat fits almost a size small on top and normal marked size on the bottom, at least for the one I got. I love the fabric - looks and feels a lot like ultrasuede. I have a feeling I'll grab this coat a lot this spring.

Great coat for NW "winters"
I based my decision solely on the great reviews of others. I am 5'7", 160lbs and the mother of 3, youngest is almost 2. I am a slender build with a middle that only another mother can understand. I ordered the falcon in medium and am very happy with it. I would have been torn between a large and extra large if it were not for the reviews. It is a very soft fleece that is fitted and flattering. I wouldn't wear a sweatshirt under this coat as it wouldn't fit but does fit well with long sleeved shirts. I have found this to be warm and very comfortable Perfect for our NW fall, winter and springs. A hood would be handy as we generally get a lot of rain but I still like it w/o one. I found the sleeves on the med to be a perfect length and not too narrow but I have slender arms and small wrists. I love the length of the coat as it keeps the bum warm. I really like this coat and am excited to wear it daily. It is dressy enough to wear out (not that I get to) and it is also casual enough for preschool drop off/pick up and the grocery store (where I usually get to go).

soft, warm, versitile
I'm very pleased with this purchase overall. I'm vegan, and finding a pea coat not made of wool is a challenge. This is soft, and the right weight for fall. The material is not heavy weight, but the length and double breasted styling make it plenty warm enough. The same styling featuers also make it look good engough to wear in a wide range of contexts. Like most of what I get from Athleta, I find that I need to get XS to have enough room in the chest/shoulder area, but that doing so means that the waist/hip area is looser than I'd like. That's the case with this coat. Though occasionally I'll get the XXS to have the better fit in the waist/hips, going for the bigger size made sense to me with a coat; I recommend this approach for others who are between sizes. (But I wish Athleta would not assume we are all quite so pear shaped!) I also found the color quite different from what I expected: the Asphalt looked like a dark grey in the catalog. When I got it, it was a medium light, bluish grey. It's beautiful, so I'm keeping it. Indeed, I want more, maybe a black or the purple. Hmm.

Is it wrong to love a coat?!
I love the light weight, softness and warmth of fleece, but I often want a dressier look than the zip up style that you usually see in fleece jackets. This coat is the PERFECT solution! I hesitated to buy it at first because I usually need a 3x thru the bust & shoulders in anything structured, and Athleta plus sizes only go up to 2x. (That's not really a complaint - stylish plus size activewear is hard to find, so I'm thrilled that Athleta offers it at all!) I'm so glad I took a chance on it, though - it's incredibly soft and comfortable, not to mention versatile! The 2x is a bit tight for me in the bust, as I expected (I wear a 42DDD bra), but actually fits perfectly in the shoulders. Since the coat isn't quite warm enough for really freezing weather anyway, I'm usually fine buttoning only the third set of buttons, which leaves room in the chest, shows off a pretty scarf, and has the advantage of making my waist look extra defined. The length is good, even for a tall gal (I'm 5'11"), AND the sleeves are long enough - hallelujah! All in all, I'm in love with this coat! It's so great that after buying the Falcon color on sale, I'm strongly considering paying full price for the black version!

Great Stylish and Comfortable Coat
This is a really stylish, comfortable and all around good coat for the shoulder season. It looks great with a mini skirt, tights and boots. The small fits me well (5' 9", 126 pounds), with one caveat that the sleeves are pretty snug, even on my scrawny arms. It would not be comfortable with a thick sweater, and even a thin shirt feels a bit too snug. The bust and waist fit perfectly, though. Another complaint is that it's not actually all that warm. I've been wearing it as the weather turns colder (upper 40s, low 50s in the AM) and if there is any wind I find the coat doesn't keep me particularly warm. But it's great for the 60s. I'd definitely buy this coat again, though, and am even eying the plum color!

Good transition coat
This coat is just right for autumn in Vermont for days that hover around fifty degrees. I've used it comfortably in 45 to 60 degrees. I noted that several reviewers found that the coat ran small and although I usually wear a medium (size 10 - 5'8", 130 lbs) I got the large because I wanted to be able to wear it over bulky sweaters. That was a good decision. It fits perfectly even over lighter sweaters, flannel shirts, etc. So I think it does run to the small side. The length is good for covering longer sweaters and tunics so it can serve nicely as a coat for 'dressy' occasions as well as for everyday. It also folds up into a compact shape and survives being scrunched without a wrinkle which is very handy for travel. I got mine in 'Asphalt' which is a dark gray/blue - goes with all my stuff.

warm casual coat
I really liked the styling of this coat, but I'm petite so I don't typically buy this type of item from Athleta. But after reading the positive reviews, expecially from other petite women, I decided to give it a try. I have short arms, narrow shoulders and a large bust, and typically wear a 4 blouse (5' tall, 34D). I usually have to size up in Athleta fitness tops because of my bust size, but decided to go ahead and try this in the S. Turns out that it has a generous fit; I could probably fit in an XS with no problem. The S fastens easily over my chest, with enough room to spare for sweater underneath. It's also got a generous fit in the waist, but it's not intended to be tight fitting. The sleeves are too long, but I expected that. The coat length is good for petites, hitting at mid thigh. I got the falcon color, which is a great neutral. Still trying to decide whether I should try the XS for shorter sleeves, but I don't want something so small I can't wear anything under it. I think the overall style is very versatile, and is an excellent choice for winter in the warmer climate where I live Overall, I'm very happy with this. In general, I'd recommend ordering your usual size or sizing down. This coat is definitely cut to accommodate layers underneath.

Great coat, but it should have been lined
I like the coat. It's cute, fits well (bought a medium, I am 5'5" and 135 lbs.) It is soft fabric and looks a little more dressy than average. However, I am sending it back. It isn't lined, and it feels uncomfortable. It sticks to the fabric of whatever I'm wearing. It gives me a "stuffed feeling". Plus the pockets are mesh. It feels drafty whenever I put my hands in the pockets. Next time line the coat, and make the insides of the pockets fleece, and it would be perfect.
