rash guards for women - reviews

Great rash ...
Finally!! I've been looking for a ... doesn't make me look like a surfer (b/c I'm not) and is actually cute. This one fits the bill. I recently wore it on an 85 degree day and never felt too hot. The chest is a bit tight on me, but I'm a D cup and it is cut more generously than the surf style ones I've tried before. Also, the zip top makes it more comfortable. I only wish I had found this ... sooner.

Nice looking ... top, as a dress not so much
I ordered one size up from my normal size after reading this item ran small. It is very nice looking top. I particularly like the long sleeves as I burn easily. This is great for me, because it's not as tight as the teen sized ... guards they sell for people with a small chest, but it is still pretty and not completely the loose type I've seen. It hides figure "flaws", if you know what I mean. If I planned to wear it as a dress I would need to go up another size as it is tight around my hips/stomach. I own a couple cover ups and wouldn't enjoy wearing a wet dress anyway, so it works fine for me.

Perfect for surfing and snorkeling!
I wore this rash guard for six days of surfing in Costa Rica. It was perfect! The ocean is warm in Costa Rica, so I wore this top for sun protection and rash protection. Unlike other rash guards, this top does not ride up. It sat nicely on my hips, even after wipe outs. The cut is also very flattering. I had many compliments from fellow surfing students and instructors! I am 5'5" and I weigh 130 lbs. and I purchased a small. This top fit me snugly, but it was not overly tight. It stretches when you get it wet, so remember this when trying it on for the first time. The top gathers nicely at the waist, which helps camouflage a stomach that's not perfectly flat! I will likely purchase another one of these tops for my next surfing adventure. It would be nice to have two if you're surfing daily so that the other top can fully dry before you wear it again. I've also worn this top snorkeling in colder waters. I like that I can pull it down past my butt if I start getting chilled. I own several rash guards and diving tops and this is my favorite!

alas, maternity ... style for pregnant moms
I love this top. It is just what i expected. I'm 5'6, 127lbs, and a 2/4 pre pregnant. Based on previous reviews and my growing belly, i opted for a M and it fits great, plenty of room to grow. I am a 32D at the moment and about 19 weeks pregnany. I think my waist is about 30" right now. The length stretched out covers my bottom, and there is plenty of room for my belly. I hate sunblock, so this will be a great non messy alternative for my trip next month. I don't think I wouldve sized up if i wasn't pregnant. This is baby number 2 so my belly is growing a bit faster. It is a bit expensive, but when a small tube of sunblock only goes so far, this will last and last. I got the blue and it is very very bright, much brighter than the picture. Wish it was in red too! or even black. I think it will be great after baby too as the length is adjustable and the material is stretchy. I think ... guards are meant to be more fitted, so don't size up unless you like a looser fit.

Awesome!
After reading the reviews I ordered this ... one size larger than my normal size. I am glad I did, it fits perfect. Love the ruching detail on the sides, the fit is very flattering. Overall, the best ... have purchased.

Prepare to order larger size!
I was looking for an attractive rash guard to wear on vacation in Hawaii for water activities. I am 6 feet tall and have a hard time finding things long enough. In the other Gap brands I typically wear a M Tall. After looking at other reviews saying this ran small I ordered a Large. There is no Tall option on this one. I also ordered the Hopkinton top in a M Tall at the same time. The Hopkinton top was the correct size in the M Tall but I much preferred the style of this rash ... liked the option of making the waist as long or as short as I liked. Being tall that was a plus. I also really liked the zipper at the neckline. The Large was OK but a little snug in the chest and I am by no means large chested. I went back and ordered the XL just to see. At [$] I figured I wanted to make sure I was happy with the purchase. I am glad I did because the XL was surprisingly perfect. Not too tight and not too loose. Sleeves could be a tad longer but totally livable. If you normally are an XL girl I would pass on this one. The purple color is also very pretty and versatile. I am looking forward to using this.

Super cute!
Love this rash guard, so much cuter than all my other rash guards. Ordered the XS, felt it ran true to size. Expected it to be long and it certainly is, but with the ruching and ties on the sides you can make it as long or short as you want. The color (Flare Pink) is bright and vibrant and fabric is what I expected--just like a rash guard. This will be perfect for when I'm ocean kayaking and paddle boarding.

Good way to avoid sunscreen
The shirt keeps the sun off your back. It looks nice, and it dries quickly. It dries quicker than my surfing ... wouldn't wear this as a real ... but it works great as a sun protector at the pool or beach. It will be great to throw on after diving or when snorkeling.

Sizing Help
I really like this shirt but had a difficult time deciding what size to order so I thought I'd try and help others. First off, it is very cute for a rash guard. I have a small chest, between 34/36A and 34/36B depending on the brand. I am 5'4" and around 135-140 pounds. I carry all my extra weight in my post baby belly (I always look a little pregnant!). So, finding a rash guard that is flattering is nearly impossible. However, the ruching in this shirt does does a better job of hiding it than any other comparable guard. I had ordered O'Neill rash guards (XL) but couldn't even get my skinny wrists through the arm holes they were so tight. For this shirt, I ordered a M and L to try. Both were wearable, but the L gave me extra breathing room but didn't look large at all. The bust is very tight, in both the M and L. I don't know how someone with average or a large chest could wear this though. I would imagine I could also fit comfortably in an XL with the exception of the sleeves being too long.

Fabulous top
Lots of customers have written that this fits really tight, but it fits like a ... should, which is snug. I tried on a larger size in the store, and it was kinda baggy in the armpits, which is not how a ... supposed to fit. Nicely supportive (could wear it without a bra if you're not busty) and awesome style. The asphalt color is stunning as a top with Athleta yoga pants.

Terrific rash guard option!
I am seeing more and more rash guard options in the marketplace all the time, and this one in particular is great--mainly because it can be adjusted quite a bit in length and coverage on the chest (with the zipper) and it comes in great colors and is in a very nice, soft to the touch fabric. I am 5'9" (so I like that I can make it longer!) and weigh 150 lbs, so in many things a medium works well. I was torn here to get the M or L after reading the other, often contradictory reviews...so I ordered both to try. I ended up keeping the medium because it fit close to the body, like I think a rash guard should--it was a bit loose in the tummy (but not too bad) and was a bit snug on the chest (I am a 34 DD), but not too bad--the material is very stretchy and it did not crush my chest. I may have kept the large if I wanted a looser fit for non water sports/everyday wear as it fit more like a normal shirt would, but again, I got this to be a sun coverage rash guard, so I expected some amount of snugness for a close fit in the water and the top delivered.
