running shorts and pants - reviews

warm & flattering!
Love these pants! The bit of extra weight and super soft inside makes these a treat to slip into on cold days. Great for every day, ... errands or speed ... outside, but for me too warm to wear to pilates or the gym. The cut makes my legs look longer and the fit seems true to size. I'm 5'-7",135 lbs and the small (my typical Athleta size) is perfect in the regular length, although if I were even half an inch taller I'd get the tall instead.

Love these ...
I bought these last winter for ... 40-50 degree weather. They're so comfortable with just the right amount of warmth. I wore them after ... Chicago marathon last month just to lounge in and couldn't believe I've never worn them around the house before. I think I need a few more pairs. Just wish there were a few more color choices.

Great Outdoor ...
I love these pants. I just started running and wanted to invest in a good pair of pants that would keep me warm while running outdoors. I live in PA so the fall/winter season has begun and night ... brisk side. These are fleece lined so they keep you warm once you start your pace. I am 5'2" and bought the petite...the length was perfect. I did go up a size when ordering based on all the other reviews and have found them to be a bit baggy in the thigh and mid area. No problem though b/c Athleta exchanged them for me right away. Overall, great ... Kept me warm. I may be investing in another tight ankle ... winter kicks in as I have a feeling the boot cut bottom will let the cold air in up the leg. We will see. I'd buy them again and recommend them to anyone.

LOVE THESE PANTS!
These are my new favorite pants! I bought both colors and wish they came in more colors. May buy the same colors again just because I want to wear them all the time! They are great for running in cold (up to low 40's) weather. I wear them a lot just running errands and I like that they are very flattering and neat looking. The medium tall was perfect for my 5'11" 145 body. I have long legs and these are the perfect length but any shorter and they would not work.

Perfect for the Fall
Love these ... use them for ... cool mornings (High 20's low 40's). May be too warm to wear for indoor exercises but perfect for outdoor where you need something just a little more than thin ... tights. Great fit...just long enough and drawstring at waist if needed. They also did not shrink or change in fit at all after washing. Definitely worth the money!

Great Cold Weather ... Pants!
After extensive research online with other brands I decided on 2 pairs of Athleta pants. The first were runaround which are a great looking pair of pants but too heavy for me to wear on my ... great! Nice light fleece interior perfect for my 30 degree ... days. Drawstring (which was so hard for me to find!) The only drawback I see is that the interior pocket on the right side always pops out but I can easily tuck it away besides that these are the perfect ... pants for me. The short inseam makes this an even better fit. I'm 54 1/2. Athletic build. I'm usually a soild 12 so I bought the Large in these and they fit perfect. I wear Mediums in other brands but always go to a Large in Athleta. You won't be sorry; you will love these! I now have 2 for my winter ... season!

good for outdoor ...
I live in a warm climate, so I wear my polartec ... maybe twice a year. I was glad to find these because they are warm without being too heavy. I'll wear them for ... temps are in the 30's and 40's. The fit isn't perfect, but since I'll be wearing them outside under a long top or jacket I plan to keep them. I'm petite and wear a size 2 ... but always size up to a S in Athleta bottoms. I got the SP in these and they are the perfect length (hooray!!) and fit great in the hips and thighs. The waist is a bit higher than I like and I'm not fond of the thin elastic at the top and the drawstring, but it is more practical than a wide waistband for outdoor activities. Nobody wants ... slip down during a ... another reviewer mentioned, the fit in front is a little odd. There is extra fabric right above the crotch and it sags a bit. The ... not too big in the hips; the issue is only in the front. It's as if I'm supposed to have a little belly to fill up the space. I don't want to size down because then the waist will give me a muffin top. I may try to wash and dry these in the dryer to see if I can shrink them a little (I always line dry). But again - under a long shirt, nobody will see that anyway. I am thrilled to find a pair of warm ... not too heavy and not too long, and I got these on sale, so overall I'm quite pleased.

Great mild winter training tights
I got these to wear for a Thanksgiving morning fun ... have other ... but they are thinner and my butt and thighs always get cold. These are perfect! Fleecy on the inside, and insulating, but not too much for PNW winters. I was very comfortable at my race, even though the weather was low-30s and sleeting. They are a bit warm to wear in the gym if you are active, but great for lounging around. I have tried them on under my Pow Pow Cargo ... use as a baselayer in frigid temps, and they are very comfortable.

Great, but BEWARE the inseam lengths!
First let me say that I love these 'tights'. To me, they are pants, but they are form fitting down to the knees, so I guess that makes them tights, with a straight leg. Anyway, I bought THREE pairs of these 1 year ago in size M Petite. Each pair says 'MP' on them. However, two of them are the actual petite inseam length of 28 & 1/2, and the other pair is the regular inseam length of 31 & 1/2. I measured all three of them with a measuring tape, because I noticed immediately upon wearing them that one was longer than the other two. So Athleta, WATCH your INSEAMS! I obviously got a pair that was mislabeled. With that said, I do like the longer ones better, so I find myself wearing that pair way more than the other two. So I guess I benefited from Athleta's mistake, but it was a mistake nonetheless. I will order a couple more pair, but in the 'regular' inseam length this time, and hope that they are correct. The pants are fabulous for walking/jogging/running... they are fitting so that they don't get it the way of your stride, just like the description says. But I didn't want a true pair of tights that are tight around the ankles and leave my ankles bare to the elements. These are perfect in that they cover your ankles and come down around your running shoes perfectly.... that is, if you get the right length. I am 5'2" and like I said, I found that the Petite length was too short. (Why a 3 inch difference between lengths??)

... Small & Short
I am 5'1" and 115 lbs - I ordered an XS Petite. I usually wear an XS in L&$Y activewear, so I thought I would be fine with an XS. I also have an XS Athleta ... skort that fits just fine. These ... were too tight and too short. I measured, and they are 28.5" for the petite as mentioned in the description, but I think because the rise is low, you'll want to hike them up as high as you can, and that makes them shorter. I'm exchanging them for a size Small in the regular length. Hopefully that will work as I liked the feel of them and I think the soft fleecy lining will be good for outdoor exercising in the winter. I also liked the fairly straight leg - not too flared, yet not leg hugging like a legging. I gave them 4 stars because they seem like they'll be a nice ... once I get the sizing right for me. cute, but too big
I'm usually a small, but these pants were just a little too big for me. I bought them for running, especially now that it's getting a little colder. I'm awfully disappointed that their too loose around the hips and thighs. Maybe I like them a little more snug, so I guess I should have bought the xs... which for me would be unusual. I'm 5'2 and weigh about 120 lbs. so a small usually fits perfectly. Aside from the size, their pretty comfortable and great for ... would recommend them, but be careful what size you order.
