Just what I was looking for!
This is a bikini top that I can swim in the waves and be active on the beach in without getting horrible tan lines. It is covering and supportive without being overly conservative (I'm 24). I am a 5'6", 127 lbs, wear a 34D and ordered a size M, as the sizing chart recommended. It fits perfectly! I bought two this time and plan to buy a third in the future.

Love it!
I have three of these bikini tops. This style makes me look like I have more than just a flat chest (okay, maybe it's menopause that's caused my breasts to finally grow up). It's the MOST FLATTERING bathing suit top I've ever owned -- flattering versus flattening. I wear a 34C bra and the medium fits fine. This top is comfortable to wear all day long.

comfortable enough to wear all day long
This ... top is a great design that is more comfortable than the styles that tie at your neck. Good coverage for active lifestyle. Size medium in many tops just don't cover a C cup well enough but this style was just right.

Love this swim top
I was concerned that this swim top would make me look flat as a pancake, but Athleta has these wonderful removable cups in most of their swim tops. This is great news for us who are a little small on top. I really like the fit and appearance of this top. This is the third piece of swimwear I have purchased from Athleta and I am so impressed. I don't think I will ever order swimwear anywhere else.

Great Swim Top
I have a bigger chest, 38 D and found this swim suit to still provide support. The straps do not cross around your neck, therefore make it very comfortable to wear, especially for bigger chested women. I just got home from Mexico and was really happy with the swimsuit top. I would highly recommend this product.

Great top!
This top is very versatile! I can wear it with so many different swim bottoms that I have. I'm 5'5", 118 lbs, and a 32A. It isn't easy to find a suit that makes me look like I have cleavage without looking overly padded. I got so many complements on it - would highly recommend it.

THE Perfect Bikini Top!
I thought I'd never be interested in wearing a bikini again, but this changed my mind! I just turned 40 and am fairly flat chested, but this is amazingly flattering on me! I pair it with the oceanside shorts and it's a wonderful ... suit --- I can't wait for warmer weather!

Cute basic bikini top
I like how basic this top is, but I really enjoy how it ties in the middle. It makes the top even more flattering and fun! I got it in the bright pink to mix and match it with another ... piece. I am a 34C and I wear an XS like I do with other Athleta tops.

What you would expect
I got this to match some swim bottoms I got a couple of years ago and I don't like the top (too big) that came with them - figured this was an inexpensive way to add another suit option. It is your basic swim top - nothing too exciting - just fine. Fit is good, a little big around the middle - I have to put it on the second or third notch, which isn't ideal as if it stretches at all, I don't have anywhere to go. I am 5'5", 115 and 32B - I ordered the small, this is probably closer to a 34. Overall I am happy and I got what I expected.

Nice bikini top
Great, easy to wear, bikini top. Bought the Large for upcoming vacation. Can't wear a halter because my shoulders are too broad. I like the bra type fit. As on another review - the cups are pretty far apart, even with the tie at its tightest. I might try to sew them together to take the tension off of the ties, maybe it will create a little more cleavage on my fairly small chest - pushing them together instead of spreading them out. I am 5'9" and 168 lbs. and wear a 36-38B for a bra size.

Great for cold or hot weather!
At the bargain price of [$], this shirt will do the trick for the main reason I purchased it: as a sun and rash guard this summer at the beach. I love that it's made of cool nylon, not hot polyester. It's hard to find nylon athletic gear, and poly would be incredibly hot at the beach. I plan also to wear this under my other gear when I play winter soccer. I'm 5'6", 120 pounds, small framed up top, and the XS fits properly for a rash guard or exercise wear. It's not baggy, but it's not too tight. It could be longer, as it hits just at the top of my hips.

Great sun protection/Stayed Cool
I bought 2 tops size Med. and 1 in size Large. I prefer the Large because I like the extra length in the sleeves and having the fit a little looser. I normally wear a size 8 or 10 in most shirts. It worked great for keeping me from burning( I have very fair skin) on a recent trip to Florida. I wore them on the beach as well as at an amusement park. I was able to stay cool in the 80 degree sunny weather. I did not get them wet to try them as a ... top.

Exceeds Expectations
My infant son is enrolled in ... lessons that require parent participation. The water temperature in the pool is very cold and I needed a shirt I could wear to keep me comfortable during the class. This shirt exceeded my expectations in every way. It was affordable (on sale), fit perfectly and matched my bathing suit (purchased separately. Thank you for making ... lessons tolerable.

They are the best!
I have a few of these shade tees and I love the feel and versatility of them. I wear them on the beach, windsurfing, mountain biking, or just everyday for any reason. If you want the fit to be loose and not snug, order a size up. I'm 5'9", athletic and pretty flat chested. I wear an XL in these. I wish Athleta would outfit them with a little zipper pocket on the sleeve to stash a credit card, money, key, etc.

Worked Great
I bought this shirt for my recent beach vacation in the color limon. I love the color. It was bright and fun and coordinated well with any of my ... suits. It kept the sun away and I would like to think helped keep me warm while I was snorkeling. It did not dry as quickly as I would have liked, but the climate was quite humid, so that is to be expected. I understand why some people found the waist a bit short, but I think it is a good length for wearing with ... suits. I even found used for the front pocket, using it to stow my camera while on the kayak, for instance. I will definitely continue to use this shirt long after my vacation!

cute shirt
This shirt is too heavy to wear in the summer where I live, but I decided to give it a try for a spring/fall running shirt. It fits really well and is the perfect weight for running outside in cool weather. I found it to fit true to size. I usually wear a size S top (size 4, 34D) and the S in this was relaxed but close to the body, and the fit through the bust and arms (problem areas for me) was quite generous. The sleeves were a little long, but I'm petite so sleeves are always too long on me. Unlike many tops i've tried from Athleta, the length on this one was just perfect, hitting at mid hip. I got the light blue and it's a bright, flattering color. Can't wait for cooler weather so I can wear this.

good tennis top
I am 5'8" and 165 lbs and ordered the 1X. Fits perfectly. I had the blue and this time ordered the white with pink trim. It is a good top to wear over halters and tanks for golf and tennis. The weight is light so I also wear these tops to the movies or casual dining when I know the ac is going to be turned up in the summer. These tops are such a fresh look.

V. Cute/ Reviews Dead On
Loved this shirt especially the color. I ordered the yellow and didn't mind that it looked super bright. But in fact, it was not a neon yellow, it was bright, but softer than expected--I liked it. I ordered a medium after reading the reviews. Thank you ladies, because you were totally correct. I can wear xs, but usually wear workout cloths a little bigger, and given the reviews I ordered a M, and it works nicely. The sleeves would have been too short in any smaller size--I'm only 5.3 and the M sleeves hit me at the wrist. The styling is like a cropped sweat shirt--perfect for the beach or my early morning boot camp workout.

Another great Athleta shirt!
I purchase shirts with sun protection since living in the mountains of NM gives a lot of high altitude sun exposure. This is a fun shirt with the front handwarmer pocket (or iPod/cell phone pocket as my teen daughter would say). Same type fabric as the ... shirt" but love the bright colors! I actually think the ... Shirt with the front snaps is better for everyday/running errands but this shirt will be fun to wear too!

Love it!
This top is great! I have 2 small boys and when we go to the beach or pool, I have something to wear while playing with them. I am a 38 B, 5'8" and typically wear 14s. I ordered a 1X in this top as I do not like clingy coverups.

Gets the job done
I wore this at the beach on a trip to Hawaii, and it got the job done in terms of sun protection. The fabric is similar to other swimsuit like fabric. It is not flimsy in weight, so as a result it does not dry all that quickly after use. I got my regular Athleta top size (size S), and it fits like a regular T shirt would, semi fitted but not body hugging (unlike the Ruched Guard, which I have in the same size but fits snugly by design). After seeing photos of myself wearing this in the Jazzy Jam color, paired with my black Athleta ... shorts, sometimes I think it looks sporty and cute, but sometimes I think it emphasizes that I am only 5'2". I blame the pocket accent stitching and the somewhat shorter garment length; it is not cut too short for me, but it seems shorter than my other typical Athleta tops. Overall, I think it was a good purchase.

Very Flattering
Great idea, but it doesn't work for me as both a rashguard and a cover up. I am 5'8", 128 lbs., 34B, straight body type and ordered both the small and the medium. The small is snug, but works really well as a rashguard. It is much too tight to wear as a cover up. The medium looks great as a cover up, but when I cinched it up as a rashguard, it made me look pregnant! I ended up keeping the small because I need a rashguard more than a cover up right now. (Also, I ordered the white, which as a cover up reminded me too much of a nurse's dress.) If Athleta gets more colors in stock, I'll probably order a medium in a color other than white to wear as a cover up. This top is nice enough to get two.

Great rash guard
This is my third ruched guard. I really like this style. It is comfortable and stylish at the same time. A warning this fits tightly like a ... suit. If you have a tummy to hide this is not for you. I love not having to apply sunblock all of the time. This has been perfect for me. I wear it more like a dress than shirt. I am 5'4" and 115# the small fits well.

All around great beach choice!
The fit is perfect. Love the option to ruch up sides to be more active or to wear longer for lounging at the beach, almost like a ... dress pulled down.

Best ... purchase
This Ruched Guard is the best ... apparel that I have purchased from Athleta thus far. I ordered it 2 days before departing for Belize and through the help of an Athleta representative, I got it just in time. I bought to wear while snorkeling as to not get a sunborn from all the exposure. I'm 160 pounds, 5'5" and the medium fit me great. I will wear again,again and again.

Love it!
I love this shirt! It is very slimming and just feels great on. I normally wear size XS S but needed a M in this shirt so it definitely runs a tad small. The material is fabulous and I love how you can wear it gathered or loose. Definitely a keeper!

Great
Overall this is a great top. I normally wear a small but ordered a medium and it is comfortable. I love how you can adjust the length with the ties down the sides. I'll be ... mostly over my bathing suit but would wear for a hike or other activity. Love the green color!

Prepare to order larger size!
I was looking for an attractive rash guard to wear on vacation in Hawaii for water activities. I am 6 feet tall and have a hard time finding things long enough. In the other Gap brands I typically wear a M Tall. After looking at other reviews saying this ran small I ordered a Large. There is no Tall option on this one. I also ordered the Hopkinton top in a M Tall at the same time. The Hopkinton top was the correct size in the M Tall but I much preferred the style of this rash guard. I liked the option of making the waist as long or as short as I liked. Being tall that was a plus. I also really liked the zipper at the neckline. The Large was OK but a little snug in the chest and I am by no means large chested. I went back and ordered the XL just to see. At [$] I figured I wanted to make sure I was happy with the purchase. I am glad I did because the XL was surprisingly perfect. Not too tight and not too loose. Sleeves could be a tad longer but totally livable. If you normally are an XL girl I would pass on this one. The purple color is also very pretty and versatile. I am looking forward to using this.

this top was made for me
I added the long sleeved blue top to my original short sleeved order in white, when I came to the realization that I could wear it over my suit for summer water sports. No matter how much sunscreen I wear, I seem to burn these days, and the long sleeved top will keep the sun off the sensitive places. The fit of the medium is beautiful - I'm a 36 C and it is fitted but not tight on me. The sleeves are nice and long, and the length is adjustable - perfect for my 5'10" body. Can't wait to try it out in the surf.

Sunscreen
I purchased this in order to provide extra sunscreen protection while we are boating. The fabric breathes while providing coverage from the sun. Many of the other tops I wear for sunscreen protection look frumpy. This is cute to wear out at the lake. Finally! I find that the chest portion feels tight. I purchased a medium after reading the reviews and glad I did. Usually I wear a small and at a 34B, I rarely complain of something being too tight across the chest. It isn't uncomfortable, but I can see that someone bustier might have issues with the fit. Overall, I'm thrilled and will look to purchase more from Athleta.

Great to wear ...
I searched for something modest to actually ... wore a normal swimtop under ( due to no lining or support in this top) and then ordered the ... skirt coverup to wear as a skirt under it. It's so cute to ... wear out around ... area! I'm 5'6 and 128 lbs but ordered a large so I could use as coverup. It fits tight even with a large, good thing I did. Love tightening the drawstring on the side as a top, and releasing it as a ... dress . Love love it! I prefer not showing my arms,shoulders, chest or tummy just because I want to enjoy the pool with the kids. Sun protection is so important too.

versatile rashguard
What I like about this rashguard is the versatility. It works well as a traditional rashguard. I have also used it as a SPF shirt while hiking and walking. I also wear it as a dress style swimsuit cover up. I've worn it at the longest length on a paddle board to get SPF protection on my upper legs instead of ... board shorts. I definitely could find 3 or 4 different pieces that I would prefer for each of those functions, but I travel a lot and really appreciate clothing that I can wear for many purposes/occasions. I like the weight of the fabric. It is fine in the water. I've worn it walking in breezy mid 70s weather and been very comfortable. I think it would be too hot to wear as a SPF shirt in south FL in the summer and I would need to add layering for temps under 70. It dries fairly quickly. I hiked in a light rain and this shirt kept my skin completely dry underneath. The SPF is also seems to work well. SIZE: I am 5'3" and 150 lbs. I wear a size 10 or a medium/large top and 34 D bra. I ordered a large. It does not fit as tightly as a rashguard should, but it is a close fit. If I were using this shirt solely as a rashguard I would exchange it for a medium. In order to be comfortable in it while hiking I need the looser fit of the large. FIT: On me the sleeves are about an inch too long and the shoulder seams are about a half inch too wide. When the sides are not ruched it hits midtigh. Since I am short it has a lot of fabric at the belly/back when I tie the sides to make it shirt length. I have a bit of a belly already and the ruching adds bulk to that area. I don't love the look, but I can tolerate it since I like the versatility of this shirt. Also, I wear this as a dress style swimsuit cover up to walk to the beach. The fabric really hugs my curves especially my butt. Again, not a terribly flattering look on me, but it serves the purpose. One last thing- the zipper feature at the neckline is a nice touch.

Loved these ... shorts!
I am 5'3" 112lbs and active mom of two, bought these for a trip to Hawaii. I practically lived in these ... shorts the whole vacation. Very comfortable, dried quickly, and looked great in all our family photos. I was able to wear these surfing, ... sailing. I brought another one piece suit along for our trip, but never put it on, because these shorts were practical and comfy. I need to find a tankini to match the shorts. I love them!

Cute and great fitting!
I normally wear a size 4-6 and these shorts fit perfect plus the colors and pattern are very attractive. My husband even commented which is very unusual. The wide waistband is comfortable and flattering

Quality Swimwear Shorts with Flare
These ... Shorts exceeded my expectations in quality of material and fashion. The colors are vibrant and they feel so comfortable like I could wear them all day. I ordered a small and would say they are a true size 6.

Great suit!
To follow up on my last review; I LOVE this bathing suit! The colors, the style, the fit---everything. The length is actually slightly longer than I was expecting, but in a good way---I wanted something not too short but not Bermuda length, and these are perfect. I'm going to go as far as to say I think this is the cutest bathing suit I've ever ownedI. I talked to customer service about receiving the wrong color, and they immediately sent me the correct color & deducted 15% for my trouble. They didn't charge for shipping to return or for the new pair. I love the shorts so much that I think I'm going to keep both and not return the incorrect color since it still matches the bikini top! Can't wait for the weather to get warmer to be able to wear this to the pool.

Great Fit and Coverage!
I just received them, so haven't tested them out in the water yet.. but LOVE the fit and coverage. I recently had my hip replaced and want to wear something to the beach/pool that covers my scar and looks good! The medium fit well, not to tight and doesn't give a "muffin top" at the waist - it fits smoothly! Love them!

Super fit
After reading several reviews and using the size guide, these shorts fit great. I'm impressed that a pair of ... shorts fit so good and are super comfortable. I can't wait to wear them on our upcoming vacation to Florida. I usually wear a size medium, but with swimwear, sometimes sizes can differ. This medium fits like it should - perfect!

great bottoms
I love the oceanside short, I can wear them and not feel self conscious and want to cover up! I am 5'6" 145lbs, wear a size 8 and the medium is a perfect fit.

I think these shorts are great! I got them to go with the scrunch bikini top and notsostring bikini bottom. I got all of them in the paisley pattern. I love that you can wear the shorts as a coverup or as your ... bottoms depending how much coverage you want that day! The small fits great. I am 5'6" and 130 pounds.

Really Nice
Love the ... shorts these are my second pair! I usually wear a size 4 but the medium seem to fit my rear a whole lot better. I am 5'4 and 130lbs with a very athletic build. I would definately recommend a size larger than normal. I paired it up with the paisley scrunch bikini top and it is just super cute!!!!

Versatile, Cute Shorts!
I bought these to go with one of the ... wear tops. The colors are beautiful and the fit is a tiny bit loose which helps to avoid any unnecessary bumps. Mostly I wear a small in the bottom (5'11" and 130 pounds) but with ... wear I always size up to make sure my bum is covered so I got a medium which offers me plenty of room. Love how you can wear them lower and they cover the bum very well or you can wear them higher by tightening the drawstring for a more secure fit. I feel comfortable in these and even comfortable enough to wear them to hot yoga class where I received many compliments. Yes, you will need to bring a towel for some of the poses to avoid you foot slipping down your leg. I also like to kick back with these shorts in my home. What I love about these bottoms is that at 54 years old, I still have a nice shape, but prefer to avoid scantily cut bikini bottoms. In fact I already returned another style of the scoop bottoms because they showed too much. These are cute, comfortable and stylish, covering all the right areas, and not frumpy at all. Good job Athleta! Can't wait to wear these ...

Tight across the front
Cute pattern, but the small shorts (I normally wear a size 6) was tight (rippled) across the front. The mediums were just too big.

Really great ... short
This is a great all around ... short to wear whatever you plan to do in or around the water. Works best of course with a bikini top otherwise, as I suspected might be the case, it looks kinda like you're wearing your pajamas if you try to wear it with a tankini top.

I LOVE these shorts! Great colors and coverage! I wear a size 8 or 10 depending on where I shop so I bought the Medium and they fir perfectly! These cover the upper thigh which is what I wanted. I usually buy skirted ... bottoms but I go jet skiing and the skirt rides up and my legs get burnt on the leather seats so I decided to try these shorts and I love that athleta shorts have a built in brief so its one less piece I have to buy separately. I have worn them all summer and have no complaints. I LOVE these!

Not just any ... short
Love these ... shorts!! I have four pair and wear them all summer. They are great for home on really hot days. They are a staple for travel to any of our Caribbean locations. We travel to St. Martin twice a year and Jamaica at least once a year. I pair them with a 50 sunblock top and am dressed for the day. They dry quickly. Great shorts! Amazing fit.

LOVE THESE
I confess...this is my THIRD pair of these ... shorts! I love them so much that I keep buying them in different prints! I have a small waist so I like a two piece, but I've got some junk in the trunk! I actually wear a 4 or 6 in pants, but I have very solid muscular legs so the LARGE suits me well. I could probably wear a medium, but I like them to be a little baggier at the leg openings. GREAT ... BOTTOMS!!! I get compliments all the time on them.

Great fit
Finding swimwear in petite sizes is difficult. I wear 0-2 depending on manufacturer and these ... shorts fit great. I haven't worn them ... yet but don't think I'll have any issues with them staying on.

Cute
I'm a 45 year old ahtletic woman. I normally wear a small but I ordered an extra small in this ... short and I love the way it fits. I like my ... shorts a little snug because when you come out of the water most ... bottoms stretch or sag so I went with extra small and I'm so glad. Love the colors, love the fit and love the sale price.

comfortable and flattering
So far, I have worn these to a waterpark and a beach with my two young children. I have never felt so comfortable wearing a ... suit. I felt like I could run up the stairs at the waterpark and play around with my kids without ever feeling worried if my suit was going to come off and what my body looked like. I have only worn these twice and I have had people come up and ask where I have gotten the swimsuit.

Cute shorts!
I LOVE THESE! I was hesitant to get these because of the negative reviews about how the fit isn't the same as past years. This is the first pair of ... shorts I've every bought from Athleta and I have nothing to compare them to so I love them. I do agree that the crotch of the short is an inch or more longer than the crotch of the inner brief. However, I still love these and they meet my expectations. I am 5'1" and 110 lbs and got the xs and they fit perfect. I do have thicker thighs and saddle bags and these hide them great. I got the white paisley color with the wave blue waist and the solid wave blue tie back tankini to match and it's such a cute combo. So excited to wear it this summer!!!

Great ... shorts
Love these shorts. Great fit, covers just enough,but are still cute and sexy. Great for paddle boarding, or hanging by the pool with kids when you want a little more coverage. They dry quick, don't ride up or cling like a lot of ... shorts I have tried. I am 5'7, 125 and the med. is a perfect fit. They are flattering and I don't feel self conscious when wearing them. The only reason why I do not give them 5 stars is that I wish they weren't so expensive.

Nice ... Shorts
These are nice ... shorts. I am about a size 6 and orderd the medium... could have worn the small but like my shorts to sit more on my hips and be a little looser.... good material. Bought the Hopkinton Rashguard/shirt to wear also and these shorts blend nicely with the color of the blue shirt.

So Cute!
I recently bought 2 of these ... shorts to mix'n'match with a couple of very colorful tankini tops. I love the look and they are a great alternative to traditional bikini bottoms. However, after reading the reviews about being too loose after they were wet, I ordered an XS instead of a small and it was perfect! I am 5'4", 126 pounds. In the tankini, I wear a medium, so for me being able to get different sizes for tops and bottoms works quite well.

This is my second pair of these ... shorts and I love them!!!!!! I try to buy a pair each year..I can wear at pool then throw on a cover up (I usually wear a large button up shirt) and they act like a regular pair of shorts. They cover me well and I feel comfortable and confidant in them. Wore a pair on an excursion that inculded ziplining ..they worked great! I am 42...5'5...138lbs..not in bad shape but not a workout diva either. Love them!

I'm a mom of two and wanted something to wear to the beach that I wouldn't have to worry about showing too much if I had to get up and chase a kid. I really think these will do the job. The built in ... bottom fits great and the shorts part is semi loose fitting. They're very comfortable and unrestricting. I may buy a second pair!

Great shorts!
This style is perfect for my build. I'm 5'6", and usually wear a size 6 in shorts, but I like the fitted look with a size small in these. I have a shorter torso so these are more flattering than the Oceanside Shorts or Vital ... shorts that come up too high on my waist. I like how these are fitted and secure, but are looser with the folded waist so they don't show any muffin top. The length of the short and the leg opening is just right as it covers up the inner thigh area without being too tight to show any imperfections like the Amrita Boyshorts did on me. I got the Vivid Blue color based off of other reviews that said it was closer to a dark purple which is just what I wanted. Athleta, please keep making these great ... shorts.

Perfect for an athletic build!
I love the fit of these ... shorts! The small was just the right fit for my athletic build an ample butt. I weigh about 120 at 5'7". Athleta ... suits are the only ones I wear during the summer.

Best ... Shorts
I love these ... shorts. I never thought I would be going this route, but age has started to get to me. But, these shorts don't disappoint. They fit great and don't come up too high - so they are still cute and sexy and don't make you look like you're trying to hide the signs of aging. My problem spot is my thighs (no matter how much exercise I do) - and these are just loose enough to hide that problem area. They make you feel confident to wear a swimsuit again. Love them!

Great maternity ... shorts
I recently wore these shorts on a vacation to the beach. I was nearly six months pregnant and the ... shorts were perfect. I wanted something to cover my thighs since pregnancy has caused some cellulite in these areas. After reading the reviews about the extra fabric in the middle, I decided to order these shorts and try them out as maternity. They were perfect. Better than the ... shorts that were actually advertised as maternity wear. I am a normally a medium (non maternity) and ordered the medium. Was glad I didn't go larger. Plenty of extra space for my baby bump.

Ready to wear!
I haven't worn these ... shorts yet, waiting for the pools to open! They fit nicely and I and mixing them with some new and old Athleta ... tops. I am 5-6, 130", usually a m, but a s in swimwear.

Flattering
This ... short is a little shorter and less coverage in the tummy area than the rio short but is still super cute and nice to have a little less coeverage in the legs. I got the large and I wear between a 12 and 14 and it fits perfect.

Good Shorts
I liked that these shorts are regular ... suit material, so not bulky. I wanted them for over a one piece - so I did have to cut out the internal brief. However, they transition nicely from land to water. I've even done laps in them and they stay in place - you don't even realize you are wearing them.

Ok
I returned these ... shorts for another color - just didn't care for the color on me! I usually wear a medium in shorts, but wear a small in the swimwear. I am 130# and 5'-6".

Love them!
I always have trouble with ... shorts fitting properly and the length of the inseam. It was just right, no irritation from my legs rubbing. I wear regular ... bottoms under but you don't have to. I feel they are true to size.

Love these shorts!!!
I have two pairs of these and love them. I often go boating and they are great for hanging around the boat or on the beach. I keep seeing reviews that say you can't wear them as a swimsuit because they're not lined. I wear have been wearing them alone as ... bottoms with a cute top for 3 years. Not sure what people mean when they say they can't be worn as ... bottoms? I just got the red one's to go with my navy Red Sox top!!! I mix and match with different tops....

Great ... shorts!
Wanted to write a review because the previous reviews saying these shorts were tight really led me astray. They are NOT! If you want to wear them as shorts around town, then fine - order a size up and they'll fit loose. However, if you do this and plan to actually ... them they'll probably fall off and feel wierd in the water with the leg area flapping about. I ordered a SM and I do LOVE them since I plan to wear them as cover ups rather than actually ... them, but I have an XS on the way just to compare sizes since they are much looser than I'd have expected based on the reviews. I am 5'5", 113 lbs and very thin so I usually order an XXS or XS in everything. With my small the waist sits low but I like that anyway and I can probably pinch about an inch of material on each side of the legs so they are loose. Extremely cute for wearing around, though - just can't ... them so decide what you want them for before sizing.

The Most Versatile ... Bottoms
I love these ... shorts so much I just bought a second pair. The first ones I wore out while snorkeling, kayaking, hiking and ... Bahamas last winter. They are very comfortable and provide coverage when you want it. I wear them over ... bottoms, though having a built in ... brief would be a nice addition.

Super Comfortable
I was nervous about getting these shorts after a reviewer said the material was similar to a windbreaker. Not true at all! These are extremely soft and comfortable, just like the ... suit material, and I don't get a swooshing sound when I walk. I can wear these over a bikini bottom and feel covered and comfortable in or out of the water. I like to take my dog to the beach in the mornings and these shorts are great to pair with a halter or tankini. I get plenty of coverage and I don't have to worry about fixing or adjusting myself when I'm running in and out of the water. They dry quickly and feel great. I'm 5'5" and 118 pounds. I usually wear a size 2 but I bought the smalls because I know Athleta ... bottoms usually run a little small. These are a little bigger than I thought they would be but I like that they are loose in the waist. They look great over the Low Tide ... bottoms and the pink color matches several of my Athleta suits. Don't hesitate--buy them while they're on sale!!!

Longer than expected
These are real cute cover up shorts. They do not have a lining so you definately have to wear them over a ... bottom. They were longer than I expected for a ... short.

I really enjoy wearing these shorts, however, there is no ... liner inner brief so you may want to consider that if you will be using them as ... bottoms. The cut & fit are nice and the coverage is good. I bought the M and the fit is as I expected. Nice shorts for lots of activities.

Just what I''ve been looking for
I've wanted a pair of ... shorts for a while now and I've finally found some that fit! I'm 5'6" and wear a size 16 pant so it's been difficult finding a pair of ... shorts that not only fit but actually look good. These shorts are great and fit true to size. The only thing is there is no attached liner so I'm going to have to purchase some bikini style bottoms to wear underneath. (the shors aren't see through, I just feel it will be more comfortable with something underneath.)

So much better than a ... skirt!
I'm 5'5", 130 lbs, 50 years old, fit but jiggly. These ... shorts are amazing - I feel over exposed in bathing suit bottoms and ... skirts are heavy and float around in the water. The shorts are trim without being too tight and short enough to look sporty without exposing too much, and I feel comfortable and confident wearing the both in, and out, of the water. I only wish they had a liner because the addition of a bathing suit bottom adds lines and a ittle bulge.

Nice fit but thin fabric
I purchased a pair of these in the blue shade to go with the McGraw wrap tankini (blue print). These complimented the tankini well, but I ended up returning them. The material is thin, not like the sueded nylon that most ... shorts seem to be composed of. These are made out of "swimsuit material" (lycra/spandex). The fit is therefore snug or closefit. You cannot wear a ... bottom under these without being able to see the bottom thru the short (I imagine this is greatly enhanced when wet) and it was my opinion that to wear them alone would be very revealing if you know what I mean; I am pretty sure they were not lined. If this does not bother you then I am sure you will like them because they are cute.

Not what I expected
I ordered these based on the name, "Vital ... Short." All other ... shorts that I have owned either have a panty style liner or are made of fabric that is heavier or at least opaque and assures coverage. These do not fit either description. The fabric is thin and would be see through when wet. They are cute and I can see wearing them as leisure wear or for playing on the beach or outdoors, but with underwear on and not in the water. Or...in the water with a regular ... bottom underneath. Back they go...

Great bottoms for mix & match
Bought these as a contrasting color to the hot pink Shirrendipity Halter swim tankini top. They also go perfectly with a printed tankini I bought from Athleta last year as an alternative to the swim shorts that came with it. Shirred front detail feels like it might be a litle loose...will see how it does in the water.

Great swim bottoms
These swim bottoms fit great. I ordered a medium for my 5'9" 150 lb. frame. These may be the best fitting swim bottoms I have ever owned. I plan to order more.

Love my new swim suit!
I'm really happy with my first purchase from Athleta! I bought the size small and am 5'8", 135 lbs, and it fits beautifully and very comfortably. Bought these bottoms in the Lifeguard Red color, which is very vibrant and pretty. The waist band detail is nice too, though I wish it was sewn across the entire front side of the bottom and not attached on just 2 sides. But despite that, I would purchase this in other colors as this is the best fitting swim suit bottom I have ever had. I would also like to say that the matching Racerback bikini top that I bought is the absolute BEST swim top I have ever had! It is so comfortable! It does not pull at the neck like other tops do. I am extremely pleased with my Athleta purchase and will be back again.

good coverage
I have a few of these athleta swim bottoms (black, white & purple). Although the little swag of fabric at the front may bother some, it is well placed, better than in years past (imo). These bottoms cover well but are still sexy, a lot sexier than wearing a too skimpy bikini bottom! I have usually gotten a size M ( for example: I wear a size 4 at Express, size 2 at Loft), which feel a little loose, but stay on pretty well. I think the small would be a bit tight - too bad there are no "between sizes" or a numerical sizing system, but otherwise I think these are great, versatile and perfect for mixing and matching w/ other solid or patterned swimwear of similar fabric type!

First time ordering swim wear from Athleta and couldn't be happier! The sizes fit true to what you would expect, the fabric appears to be quality and the color is just like described no surprises!!!! Will buy more next season after I see how it holds up!!!!!

Great bottoms
I have a round shapely butt and I don't like most bottoms because they don't cover enough or they cover too much and look like old lady bathingsuits. The coverage on this bottom is perfect and still sexy. The quality is great. I can't wait to wear this suit summer 2013. I will definitely buy more swim suits from Athleta.

Safe for diving
Good coverage. Extra band of fabric in front helps to conceal my extra tummy flab. I would not recommend for perfomance swim because of the drag of the extra fabric. I ordered the medium. I'm 5'7" 135lbs and the medium fit perfectly. I've had other bottoms that fit fine dry, but get baggy when wet. This bottom does not do that. And, I can safely dive in the water without losing my swim bottoms

Great Swim Bottom
This swim bottom works great for my post baby body. I am a size 4/6 and went with the medium swim bottom. It doesn't always "stay put" on the cheeks like I would like it to, but the small felt just a tad too constricting. The shirring helps conceal the little tummy I currently have, thanks to my 6-month old :)

Just OK
If you have a perfect or close to perfect body, this is a great bottom. I however do not. I am 5'5, 138. Rear coverage is perfect. The front is too low for me. I have some low belly scars that show right through this material. I will wear these under swim shorts b/c I am too lazy to send back.

not for big booty
Cute bottom but it doesn't cover my butt. I'm 5'5 130lbs and ordered medium. Tried other Athleta swim bottoms in a size large but the surface area coverage doesn't get any bigger, it only increases the waist circumference giving a baggy look that still doesn't cover my butt. Double layer fabric probably OK for most swimmers but I swim daily and like to do triathlons in the summer. Otherwise I'm chasing my 3 year old around the pool. In any case IDW my butt hanging out. Returned.

Good, not great
I'm ~5'10, around 140 lbs, very little butt and size 36A on top. Got the bottom in a medium and the racerback top in small (ended up exchanging the top for a med). The bottoms fit well, but as a former swimmer (thru college), I wouldn't say they were tight enough for "performance swim." In other words, I wouldn't wear them to train. Also, the shirred part across the waist is not what I expected. It is attached on either side of the waist, but not at all through the middle. It would create drag if you were trying to swim in them. But this suit is great for hanging out at the pool and on the beach with my boys, who keep me busy w/ football throwing, paddle ball, volleyball, etc.

What can I say? I was really hoping for a ... felt good about. ( I am over 40 and though I wear a size 2, I've had two kids). So I bought the Sangria color full tide ... sale and found a striped tankini to go with them. Perfect. Wish they had more colors available in my size. I'd buy them for later!

I have had a problem with finding the right ... bottoms that don't give me muffin top. I am 5'7", 140 lbs wear 6-8 in pants. I got these in a medium and they fit perfect. I usually have to go to a size large in bottoms so I dont get a muffin top but then they sag big time in the rear. Some reviews mention the green interior. I could see it being a problem on a top but for the bottom, it hasn't been an issue so far. I have two pairs of these that I paired with the ready to run tankini and truckee tri tankini.

Big Behind? Need full coverage? These are it!!!!
These have the best coverage of any ... have tried virtually all types and these were it! There is no tugging. They stay put. These do not cut into your thigh or stomach. I have a larger behind, saddlebags and am very self conscious, but I felt extremely comfortable in these. I got the Asphalt with the Asphalt Flirt Skirt for even more coverage. The Rio Cast Away Tankini top in Asphalt completed the look. I normally wear an 8-10, in swimwear , 138 lbs. but went with a large for better coverage.

Great ...
I got this to wear with the Shirred Bra Cup Tankini and the Racine Ready to Run Tankini and it is just perfect. I am over 60 and want a little more coverage and don't find this too much coverage. I wear an 8 and the medium fits well. I am looking forward to wearing this at the beach.

What I was looking for
This was the right amount of coverage. I tried the medium tide and liked it, but full tide has just a bit more in the ... waist without being a granny panty. Didn't have to adjust the ... all. I usually wear a small and small was just right. I wish it came in more colors! I also had a really good customer service experience.

Nice fit
Ordered this for surfing to wear with a tankini top - perfect fit on hips (doesn't dig in) and stays on - like!

Sides are little lower than picture indicates
I'm 5'2", 145, and wear a medium shirt, and size 8 or 6 in pants. The medium fit perfectly, although the sides are a little lower than indicated in the photos. Still, looks like it will be a very good suit.

Great coverage
It's no longer age appropriate for me to wear skimpy bikini ... so I was pleased with the coverage of these briefs. I matched a tankini with the asphalt ... really a cute set. The medium fits my 4 or 6 size. The top was on sale, had to pay full price for the bottoms......it's ok since I'm happy with the look and fit.

Great ...
I love these ... buy them as often as I can in all colors. I love that Athleta gives information about the rise - and that they have a ... appropriate for someone who is a bit older. I am 51 - and I feel comfortable with the coverage, even when I am moving around on a boat in close quarters. I usually wear a 6 in trousers and I wear a medium in this ... - I pair them with tankini tops and have good coverage but my movement is not limited.

I was looking for a full coverage suit ... found it with this style. I wear a size 4 but have been "blessed" with a larger backend than my waist would normally fit so a full coverage ... need. I ordered a small and could have probably been ok but exchanged for a medium and feel more comfortable with that. Athleta's exchange/return policy is great! Easy, no hassle and fast. I am happy with my purchase and their sale prices.

Bought this and the Sayulita Medium Tide ... & top. Ended up returning everything. Sayulita Medium Tide ... cut too low. The legs on this ... were too "boy short" like -- did not elongate my legs. (I'm 5'6", 128 pounds, usually wear a size 6 in Athleta ... Thought if the Sayulita ... cut too low (which it was for me) that this one might work but the color was also a bit too dark. Fabric quality was very nice.

Perfect Swim Piece!
Love this swim skirt. The material is dreamy and light, yet durable. Looks cute and not frumpy and dresses up the swim tank I already had. I bought a medium (I am 5'2" and about 133 lbs and usually wear either small or medium). I feel covered enough but with a little fashionable twist when I have this on. Highly recommend!

FANTASTIC Swim Skirt - Perfect Coverage!
Love this swim skirt! Lightweight, stretchy but not too clingy. Perfect length to cover problem areas yet short & cute to not look old ladyish. I'm a toddler mom and need a lil more coverage to feel confident chasing him down the beach, and I surely do in this. I got it in OTTER and I love it, but color shown is quite different than actual - its more like a CHOCOLATE BROWN, not grayish at all as appears. I debated on sizes, so I ordered a SMALL & MEDIUM. I normally wear medium size swim bottoms (curvy 128 lbs, size 6 or 8) and sure enough - the MEDIUM was the winner! LOVE IT, highly recommend!!

Great swim skirt!
This swim skirt covers just enough but doesn't show the world high thigh. I love that. The swim skirt fits like a dream and doesn't ride up. I'm 135 lbs., 5'9". I usually wear between an 8-10 and the fit of the swim skirt is perfect. I purchased the Dragonfly tank and Lani Kai Wrap Tank in red and the swim skirt in red works with both. I love all the pieces I purchased from Athleta and am very, very happy with the material, workmanship -- the items are great. Thank you!

Great swimsuit bottom!
I was looking for a swim suit bottom that I could wear with several different swim tops I had. I am 5'4", 146 and am getting in shape, but still don't like my thighs - I am far more comfortable walking around in this than a traditional swim suit bottom. This swim skirt works great!

perfect fit
I originally purchased the pura vida splash swim skirt #906263 in small, but returned it and got the sporty shirred swim skirt in small. I like the sporty shirred swim skirt much better. The pura vida splash swim skirt had too much material with the foldover waistband. The sporty shirred swim skirt in size small fits like a glove and the material is not too thick so will not be too heavy when wet. This is the best fitting/nicest material I have ever found in a swim skirt.

perfect!
As I get older I want to cover a little more up than I used to. This swim skirt is perfect. I am 5'3" and typically wear a 6 or 8, ordered this skirt in a medium and it fits perfect!! I will be using this as my new go to summer swim bottom. Any top works with it, but the best part is that it covers up all the stuff I want to hide!!

I love this swim skirt!!!!! I recently underwent 4 months of chemotherapy for breast cancer and gained 10 lbs and my body has changed quite a bit in a short amount of time (I ran my first half marathon a couple of months before diagnosis). I was getting very bummed when trying on swim suits trying to find something flattering, yet attractive. This is it! I ordered a similar suit from Lands' End and it was just not flattering- this is!!! I am so happy to find something that I can be comfortable in chasing my son around the beach/pool this summer. Just for reference I am 5'3' and 148 lbs. I am a bit chub chub in the tummy and in butt & thighs and this hides it all!!! I haven't been this excited about a swim suit since I was 30 lbs smaller!

Great swim skirt
This is a great swim skirt. I wear a size 4 and I ordered the small. I am hourglass shaped.This runs true to size. This has good coverage without looking "old lady". After 2 kids my butt/hip area is not what it used to be. I thought this swim skirt will be cute at the pool but also give my coverage and freedom to run after my kids. I will wear it with the siren bikini top.

I have this style and the other swim skirt Athleta offers. I love them both! The length is perfect...long enough for coverage but short enough to be sassy on the beach or by the pool. Great with coordinating bikini or tankini tops.This is not your Mom's swim skirt - unless your mom is pretty cool. I ordered a medium and it fits well. I usually wear a 6 or 8 in pants.

This skirt fits true to size. I am a size 4 and I ordered the size S. It's a pretty basic swim skirt with a built in panty. It seems comfortable and will be a good addition to my swim wear collection.

Just right
I needed a swim skirt that wasn't too flimsy and this is perfect. I am usually an Athleta size 6 in pants. I got the medium since I don't like my swim bottoms tight. It fits really nicely with no digging in at the waistband. There is a "wrap" styling feature with the flap at the left side. I love the sangria color. I would buy another since it goes with several tops, but they are now out of my size. I hope this swim skirt is carried again next year in more colors.

Perfect combo
Living in Hawaii I go through swim suits. Even the custom ones don't come close to the suits I have bought from Athelta. Most recent purcahse: the Solid Three Sixty Bikini Top paired with Paddle Paisley Reversible Medium Tide Bottom. Fit and quality of fabris is terrific. Only sadness is lack of sizes in in the top.! I was ready to order another color to go with the reversed side of the bottom, but no go.Sob! Seems a popular item...Athleta?

Perfect for the beach
I read the reviews prior to ordering, so went up a size from what I was expecting. I love the fit and support. I can wear it to play beach volleyball, swim, body surf, and never worry about keeping the girls covered. I found it best to tie the back once and just slide it over my head to get it on and off. It can be cumbersome to have to tie it every time you wear it.

cute top!
I'm a 34B and I love this top! The small fits perfectly. This top doesn't try to 'enhance' my clevage in any way, but it does manage to look cute on my flat chest. I'm planning to surf and swim on vacation, and the adjustable back is nice and feels like it will stay put. Great top!

Great swim top!
This top is super cute! I'd been looking for a comfortable swim top for awhile and this is it. The back is really cool looking and the straps are adjustable, which is great. I love the band on the bottom of the top as well. I read some other reviews where some people had issues with the support, but I fluctuate between a 32 A or B so this top has worked well for me.

I purchased this top because of the reviews. I wore it while at the lake this weekend and not only received numerous compliments on it but was able to ski, tube, swim etc while it comfortablyl remained in place. It is a bit of a contraption to get into with the way that the back ties. However, once it's on, it's a winner and well worth the money.

Love it!
I love this swim top! I purchased the brown and absolutely love it. I even went back to see if there was others that I wanted. Nothing on sale so going to wait there - I'm thrifty that way. I wasn't so sure I'd like the straps in back for tan lines but I love the support and have gotten several compliments on in, including "I like that the back is something different." It offers more support than the typical halter top swim suits. I'm a 34D and ordered a medium based on previous reviews and it fits great. Will definitely be getting more - on sale of course.

YAAAAAY!!
Right out of the box I took this top for an open water swim and it stayed in place the whole time. Originally I thought it would make a great top for under my wet suit and snorkeling for an upcoming trip. The top meets and surpasses my expectations. Can't wait to get another color! (Medium fit me perfect, 36B). The back is well designed and slides right into place with minimal adjusting.

Love it!
This swim top is great! Just enough coverage and support and just enough of a different look, definetely not frumpy. It fits like a dream and looks great too! What more could you want? I might get another color or a print one if they go on sale!

nice suit
Have not worn this suit out yet for a swim, but out of the package looks like it is going to be a winner. I am a 34 D... and need good support. The suit takes a little adjusting, but I think it does the trick. What i like about the suit is that it is a little more youthful in appearance than other suits with a D cup. I have the twistini top which I like, but again I feel this is a little more youthful looking... at least that is what my 14 year old daughter tells me. The Asphalt color is a nice change from my usual black.

Just perfect!
This top fits my 36D cup girls and looks sexy doing it! I am broad- shouldered and chested with a moderately athletic build. The strings tightened well, hold the girls in place, and provide ample coverage without any forward/cleavage slippage (which happens in most swimwear tops for me). I love that it doesn't tug at my neck. The only think I don't like is the bright pink inner layer on the black top, it shows as you swim and shift around. Taking out the padded inserts helps a bit. Otherwise, fantastic top!

Cute top but not for lap swim
I thought I might be able to make this work for lap swim, but probably not secure enough to stay put through flip turns. Very cute though, and would be great for beach wear. It's getting 3 stars only because I can't use it for my intended purpose. Seems to be well made. Just not what I was looking for so I'm sending it back.
