I''ve never had so much fun buying a swimsuit
I had never even thought to order from Athleta before! After buying one, I am obsessed with this tankini so much so that I bought it in 4 colors to mix and match with a variety of bottoms. I can honestly say that I've never had so much fun buying swimwear! Every woman hates trying on swimsuits, but trying them on in the winter months before a vacation is even worse... Athleta takes out the stress by offering the no risk return policy and you can try them on at home. I found this tankini true to size - I'm 5'3", 120#, 34B and took a size Small. I actually tried the regular and tall length and can get away with either. I love the shirred material as it covers the bumps and love handles, and flattens out the tummy. I received tons of compliments from friends and my husband when I wore the tops recently in Mexico. I have never felt so comfortable in a swimsuit top! The coverage was great and the halter tie stayed put even while swimming and jumping in to the pool. I cannot praise this top enough!

So flattering!
Bought the Brilliant Blue tankini in XS on sale and so happy with it! Beautiful color and material. It really flatters my small frame - 5'4", 106bs, 34AA. Its cute, stylish, and practical. The chest coverage is perfect - enough support and modest coverage but still sexy due to the deep V. Some people may find it tight around the midsection but I find that perfect for swimming since it won't ride up once you are in the water. Great suit for for swimming as well as hanging out by the pool/beach. I bought the Amrita medium tide bottom in Baltic to pair with it. The two blues compliment each other. Love it!

Functional, Versitile and Fashionable!
I love, love, love Athleta swimwear! Every piece is not only well made and functional, but the fit is great, the colors and patterns are amazing and unique and the styles are adorable and flattering for a variety of body shapes and sizes. I love the rouching on this top - it's so flattering! I am 5'1", 120 lbs and the size small fits perfectly. I paired with the Trestles Notsostring bottom and it's a perfect match.

Finally!
I've always had trouble with swimwear because of my long torso...LOVE this tankini top! It was long enough to cover my torso without riding up and so comfortable! LOVE these! I was looking for an alternative to my regular bikini bottoms and these are perfect. Not matronly at all. I'm in my early 40's~ 5'4" ,145lbs, flat stomach & curvy. The medium fits perfectly! They are super comfortable and very hip. My husband commented stating they are very flattering on me. Just ordered another pair at the sale price.

These are awesome swim shorts that can also be worn out of the water during really humid days. My 15 yr old neice was impressed with them when she saw them on me (I'm age 49) and she's quite astute on fashion. They are lightweight in the water when you swim and they dry quickly when you get out of the water. I would highly recommend these paired with one of the swim tops. I love the fit of Athleta swimwear!

I haven't worn these swim shorts yet, waiting for the pools to open! They fit nicely and I and mixing them with some new and old Athleta swim tops. I am 5-6, 130", usually a m, but a s in swimwear.

I returned these swim shorts for another color - just didn't care for the color on me! I usually wear a medium in shorts, but wear a small in the swimwear. I am 130# and 5'-6".

From the previous reviews, I suspected that the fold over waist would be too mobile. But I got these on sale and it's the only thing I could find to go with a swim top I have, so it was worth a try. They *are* cute, when they stay in place. They're fine for just playing around with the kid in the pool, but anything more than that and I have to check the top is in place before I get out of the water. If the waist had less fabric bulk and if it were fully tacked down, these would be perfect. And the customer service I got when we had a shipping error was fantastic! I'm really looking forward to the Athleta brick n-mortar opening here in Indy!

Great bottoms with a little tummy
I am almost 50, 5'7" and 125-8 #. I am fairly trim, but am starting to get a little thicker around the thighs. This bottom has that extra band of material at the waist that helps to cover your tummy a bit. It is like a thick banded pair of yoga pants where the band helps to reign in that extra skin/fat at the waist. I actually owned a pair already and saw the sale and got several pairs in different colors to mix and match with my tankini tops from Athleta. I will never wear a bikini again, but these bottoms seem to work well for me. I also think the shirring also hides things too and dresses them up.

I have a few of these athleta swim bottoms (black, white & purple). Although the little swag of fabric at the front may bother some, it is well placed, better than in years past (imo). These bottoms cover well but are still sexy, a lot sexier than wearing a too skimpy bikini bottom! I have usually gotten a size M ( for example: I wear a size 4 at Express, size 2 at Loft), which feel a little loose, but stay on pretty well. I think the small would be a bit tight - too bad there are no "between sizes" or a numerical sizing system, but otherwise I think these are great, versatile and perfect for mixing and matching w/ other solid or patterned swimwear of similar fabric type!

Love this swim top
I was concerned that this swim top would make me look flat as a pancake, but Athleta has these wonderful removable cups in most of their swim tops. This is great news for us who are a little small on top. I really like the fit and appearance of this top. This is the third piece of swimwear I have purchased from Athleta and I am so impressed. I don't think I will ever order swimwear anywhere else.

Fabulous Top
I am preparing for a trip to Aruba and I just received my new swimwear. I couldn't be happier! I'm 52, wear a 34C, and have tried on many swimsuit tops that made me look too busty or feel like over ripe fruit. There isn't too much padding and the fit is perfect (I ordered a medium). It is also very comfortable. I highly recommend this top.

Like it
I wear a 34A bra size. The extra small actually fit better than the small. I'm 5' 4" 117 # . This top is comfortable and seems like it will stay put. Got it on sale. The non sale price however is just too high.

Good in black but runs a bit small
After waiting all summer for the black bikini to go on sale, it never did, so I paid FULL PRICE for this top and the tie side bottom. I am a perfect 36C and required the large top, even though the medium bottom fit me and I am not small down there (132 lbs!). I like the top though don't expect the same coverage as in the photo unless you are a B cup. Also, black is fine but other colors will not dim the headlights, even with the pads.

Ordered this to mix/match with two other paisley suits. As expected, Cocoa Bean was a good color match for both. Love the adjustable straps and front tie. Overall size, cup size, and quality all as expected. Wish the padding was built into the suit and it had underwire for extra support. I'm only a 34B but I like added support. Overall happy with my purchase (& it was on sale)!

cute, not for the large chested
I bought this top in asphalt to go with some printed not so string bikini bottoms that were on sale. The bottoms were asphalt also, but the colors were not a perfect match. Kept them anyways, hard to tell unless you are really close. I am a 34D and ordered the medium. It fits, but there is definitely no spare coverage. The adjustable ties help. It is nice quality material. This is a nice top for the beach or lounging by the pool. Would not work, for me anyways, for higher impact activities.

Made in China
Sending this and the matching no string bottoms back. I won't wear intimates, swimwear, or workout wear made in China. I remember the days when Athleta items were made in USA (before they were brought into the Gap fold). I'd gladly pay more for their items if they could be USA made again.

Fits great
I don't like underwire swimwear, nor do I like little triangles that barely cover anything. This is nice....good quality material, covers just enough so that you do not have to constantly keep adjusting the straps. I have the purple and blue and love them. I might have to buy the skirt bottom that goes with the purple since I love the blue one so much. I'm 5'5 and 140lbs. 34d bra and the Medium fits fine. Tried the bottom in a large, but was excited when it was too big! Medium works great.

This bikini top has finally found a happy medium between sexy swim wear and sport wear. Fit was perfect and comfortable. I've bought two solids and wish they'd made this same desing in the patterned swimwear as well.

Favorite top .... until I washed it and now becoming dingy like the matching white Tankini I previously purchased!! I have tried all of the "stay white"/ "re whiten" swimwear secrets to no availI.I believe it is the inside tan coloring that is bleeding. I am upset spending around $100 on 2 suit tops that can't stay white when I am washing as recommended..... what am I missing here!?!? I also have purchased quite a few other products from Athleta and have always been extremely satisfied, until now.

Love this swim skirt!! It is cute and sexy while being just modest enough and comfortable, too. I have an hourglass figure and am pretty fit but not a fan of my upper thighs. Not for you if you are tall and have a tushy. The rise is too low and the bottom is too, too short. (zero coverage back there) I stand at 5'11 with a slender build but I am shaped like a women with hips and I have a bottom. The rise on the swim skirt was 2 3/4 inches below my belly button. Since I had twins and c section last year my belly is not a firm as it was. (Being 45 doesn't help either) So having more coverage is important to me. I have ordered the large tall skorts from Athleta and have been very pleased with them. I am disappointed that the swim skort didn't work. Buying clothes as a tall women has always been difficult. Few options are available especially in swimwear. I compared my old swim skirt to this one and found Athleta's to be 1 1/2 " shorter. I guess I will return the Athleta brand and go back to the other brand. FYI Athleta - tall means tall everywhere. Why would you offer a tall in your swim tops but not in the swim bottoms?

Great short!
My normal size bottoms is a true 12 plus my tops are 1X since I have a large chest 36G. Ordered the shorts in Large and had to exchange for an XL since I will be wearing them over my swimsuit plus I didn't like them too fitted. XL was perfect, returned without any problems. Excellent customer service. Bought them on sale plus I had a coupon great bargain for next summer! The red color is beautiful!

Love these
I own several other pair of the Oceanside Short in patterns (which I have purchased because they were on sale). But I love them so much I decided to splurge and buy the black ones because they go with so many of my tops. I am 5'11" and 165lbs and ordered the Medium. The fit is perfect.

truly for me
I am so happy to have found ATHLETA! I have tried for years to get great fitting swimwear and have truly found their product to be amazingly easy to wear. These swim bottoms are perfect for the beach. Not to skimpy or revealing, the fabric is so silky and soft and begs to be worn. I am an elderly (young) adult who refuses to give up style as long as it fits and I can find it. I am 4' 3 1/2" and weigh about 124 lbs. I chose a medium. I hope this review helps to encourage anyone to just try ATHLETA.

I love these swim shorts! I am a mom in my 40s, and like to be somewhat covered at the pool and beach, as I don't want to worry about something "hanging" out. I am 5'1" and about 108 lbs. I generally wear a size 4 or 6, and I ordered the small and they fit perfectly. (I usually order my swimwear a size up...but I didn't with these). These rest right below my belly button and are very flattering. I have been looking for a pair of shorts that were not bulky (or made of that loud swishy material). These are the first swim shorts that I have liked the way they looked and felt. I used to wear the skirts when at the pool with my kids, but these are so much cuter!

Favorite Swim Shorts
These fit great. I have them in every color and always check at end of season and buy on sale. I love the fit. Other swim shorts are tight and these are the most comfortable.

Oceanside Must Have!
I am in LOVE with these shorts. They are comfortable and super cute. As a mom of two who has been through 2 c sections a true bikini is just out of the question but I hate one piece swimwear. These shorts are perfect for hiding my imperfections without making me feel ugly or uncomfortable and I can pair it with a bikini top and still feel like I've not lost too much in not being able to wear a true bikini anymore. I'm 5'5" and 145# and the mediums are great. Way to go Athleta! I hope you keep this style around FOREVER or at least until I can get a tummy tuck! HA!

Worth the $$
I love this swim short. I bought two colors and matching swim tops are endless. These offer a little more coverage than a "boy short" style but stll has a very youthful appearance. Very true to size which is nice. I hesitated spending the money when everyone else has their suits on sale, but the quality and fit is worth it to me. By far the best looking and most comfortable swim short I've owned.

FYI I am 5'6, 46 year old mom of 2'- small frame size med was perfect! Okay these are the swim shorts I have dreamed of but have never found until now. Bought a pair in black, then another in viola (awesome color!) on sale and have a blue pair on it's way (also on sale!- yeah! ) the fit is not too tight, just right & the tie gives you the right amount of adjustability. I love to boogie board at Newport Beach Ca and have lost more than one pair of swim bottoms to the end of my tush to a wave- these babies stay put with the tie . And no more worries about tugging them constantly down to cover your bum, which is so annoying when I have worn regular bikini bottoms in the past. These swim pants are so very functional for those gals who not only want to look cute but also want to be more active and enjoy the beach, lake, pool etc...just got back from a week in Lake Tahoe & these shorts did not disappoint! They went from pool to lake , swimming to paddle boarding to rafting to sunbathing with style and no tug ease...love, love , love these ...enjoy!!!!!

Great idea!
I love these "waterproof" shorts. I'm a size 10/12 and the size L fits well. I wish they came in better colors, I ordered the coral (don't remember the color name) because it was on sale, but I would have preferred the brownish, which was not on sale.. Please make them next year in more neutral colors. The legs stay down well, don't ride up. Thanks, Athleta.

Nice shorts
I bought these shorts based upon another review that mentioned that they go well with the 3-way wrap tankini top. They are a great match and are very comfortable. I did not purchase them to wear as swimwear, but they would work well for swimming, too.I usually wear a size 6 trouser and I ordered the medium in this short, which is perfect for wearing as shorts. If I were to order them for swimming I would consider ordering the small.

I ordered the entire series in extra small; and the fits were spot on perfect. I am very petite in weight and height; and it is great to be able to find such a wide selection of swimwear in petite sizes. Good quality of all the pieces in the collection, too.

The inside is fully lined with lime green fabric. I like that it fits securely, but the "waist" doesn't make bulges on my not-20-anymore had-4-kids hips. I'm 5'5", 120 lbs, and I fit a size 6 in Athleta pants. I usually go up a size on swim bottoms and the medium fit me perfectly.

So, I usually have to buy separates in swimwear so I can get different sizes AND whenever I buy swim bottoms and other pants that are sized S, M L, that need to fit the "hip" area, I always buy a Medium just to be sure they will fit nicely (not too tight). Well, after reading many reviews on this skirt, I VERY hesitantly ordered a Size Small hoping that I wouldn't have to return it for a Medium (and being concerned that a Medium wouldn't be right either because of my 23" waist!) I was VERY HAPPY when I tried this swimskirt on and it fit almost perfectly! The only thing is that I can see a little of the panty line ... but I'm sure once I tone up some more, that issue will be resolvedI I also wish Athleta prices were a little more affordable ... I would surely order more items. I will definitely be a return customer, though!

I love these swim shorts. They have great coverage, fit, comfortable, and look good. I would recommend this product to someone who is very active and does not want ot be pulling at swimwear while enjoying outside atticities. I feel very comfortable in them and do not feel I am showing more than I would like to.

Great swim shorts
I bought these on sale and I love them. I already have a pair of Athleta swim shorts, which I love, but these are more like a longer version of boy shorts. They fit snug around the legs and have a few more inches of coverage than the average boy short, which is good, because there is no panty in these shorts. They have a seam right up the middle of the back so I thought that would make me feel like I have a wedgie all day but I wore them kayaking the other day and didnt have any problem. They have a very flattering fit. I order the M for all my swim shorts from Athleta and they fit perfectly. I am 5'4", 140lbs, relatively fit for late 40s. My husband really likes them. I pair them with several different swim tops. Nice addition to my swim wardrobe.

Love these!
This is what you get if you marry the standard board short with a boy short swimsuit bottom. It's basically a boy short with more coverage. I like that it doesn't have a built in brief because you can just wear a comfortable pair of quick dry panties that won't give you lines (often a built in doesn't fit quite right). The legs have enough coverage that it doesn't require a bathing suit bottom underneath. You can also wear them as regular shorts since they don't scream bathing suit. Once I received the pink pair, which I got on sale, I ordered the black at full price. Very nice and very practical! Worth the money, imo.

Swim shorts
I am a size 6-8 (depending on company/store) and usually would order a size M in this type of item. Surprisingly the M was too big and I re ordered a S. Also had previously ordered the Sayulita halter style swim top (also from the sale) which works great with the swim shorts!

YAY! It fits!
My biggest problem is finding things to fit my 5'2', 100 lb frame. The XS was perfect, looked good on, and was comfortable. These shorts are long enough for summer running and will double as the bottom half of my swimwear. And the reasonable price was the icing on the cake!

Better than expected!
Bought these in Small. I'm 5'3 110lbs and they fit pretty well. A little loose around the waist so swimming may be an issue. However, I like the loose fit usually and have worn these out and about as well as to hot yoga classes. They work great! Comfy with good coverage and gives me a little bit of "booty" which is awesome! Got the pink and brown on sale. 4 stars because the buttons seem to be slightly off center. But overall, a great buy. Will get another in black.

Almost Perfect
originally ordered a small but exchanged for an xsmall. I am 5"4 athletic build at 130 lbs. 26" waist 35.5 hips and 20" thigh. I wish the fabric was thicker with more stretch (perhaps lycra or spandex). I was really hoping these to fit like a glove but the fabric is more like a windbreaker material. because I bought them on sale I will be keeping them as a alternate bathing suit bottom.

Nice fit.
The sale price caught my attention and I'm glad I bought it. The swim shorts provide a great fit and length coverage. I'm more on the conservative side, so I will also be wearing a bikini bottom underneath for a tighter fit.

Nice Short
I was expecting this short to fit a little more snug than it did. originally ordered the small and returned for the extra small. I have a 26" waist and 35.5 inch hip and 20" thigh. If this was not on sale I would probably return it but they are so light weight and the fabric will dry quick that I had to keep them for when extra coverage on the beach is needed. You can wear this alone as a short or over your bathing suit.

Too LARGE!!!
The S is huge on my 120lb 5'4" frame. And this is on my 46 year old body after two babies (one of whom is really small and I have some pretty flabby thighs). I like that this has great coverage. Wonderful to be on the hike and bike trail in "shorts" and then jump in the water with the dogs and even the babies. But whew... the leg part on my thighs are HUGE. They feel like giant shorts. I really like the style and am getting one in XS (but alas, they have it in only brown or hot pink-- on sale, that is). Worth pursuing, though. Nice product, though the fabric seems quite thin.
