LOVE this suit!
I cringed at paying so much for just a tankini top -- but as a 32DDD, it is next to impossible to find a decent fitting swimsuit that doesn't make me look like I should be on stage with dollar bills stuffed in it. I'm 5'3", 125-130 lbs, muscular build, slim through the waist and narrow ribcage but with large breasts. My biggest problems with swimsuits is that the cups are always too small, the band under the bust is usually too loose, and I like to swim, boogie board, and run around with my kids and do not want to be constantly adjusting things or worrying about "exposure." I also have a short torso, so most non halter straps are too long. And I don't like halters because they make my neck ache, plus the knots in back are uncomfortable going down waterslides. This suit, however, ROCKS. I am generally a size 4-6, but ordered the Medium based on reviews that said it was snug fitting. It fits perfectly, I love the adjustable straps, it has great coverage so I don't feel like I'm going to pop out, and the print is really cute. It doesn't have enough support for running or high impact sports, but it will be fine for a casual game of frisbee. I love it so much I'm thinking of ordering the pink version too. I thought the print bottoms looked a bit too busy, so I paired it with the black Low Tide bottom and love it. Athleta -- please more colors and prints in this style!
great with one caveat
love this top! i wear it with the matching bottoms in the swim short style. this top fits just as i anticipated, and though i'm long waisted, i switched the "tall" version for the "regular" because the "tall" size was too long and fell too low on my hip. My only dissapointment is that when i put it in a gentle cycle for it's FIRST wash, one side of the underwire came out! it appears as though the stitching which secures it in place was not adequately done. :( i sort of pushed it back in and could easily take a stitch to it myself, but really, i shouldn't have to being that it's brand new!! so if you choose this underwire top, check both sides for underwire placement and the security of the stitching
Finally a swimsuit that works for me!!!!!!
I originally ordered a size M, but I had to exchange for a S ... I'm 5' 8", almost 130 lbs., 32 D, and have a small waist. I was a little worried the pattern would be too busy for me, but I was pleasantly surprised when I received it in the mail. It's very flattering and fits my slim waist well while still giving me full coverage on top. I wouldn't go running in this top, but it will be perfect for me at the pool or beach keeping up with my kids. I won't have to keep adjusting myself and making sure I'm still covered up. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because it squishes your girls together and when you bend over you see that but it really isn't that big of a deal and overall it's flattering.
Runs small...
I usually take a small or x small in Athleta tops (I have 7 other suits from Athleta), but this top ran very small. I am a 34B and overall, the size small ... very tight. I am disappointed because I really wanted to LOVE this suit. I've never bought a small ... before, so maybe the talls run a bit smaller? Don't know... The support is great - I could feel comfortable running in this top without flopping all around, but it's going back. Just a little too tight. Not crazy about the pattern either. Looks better in the pictures.
Too fitted
I ordered the small tall per the measurements listed on the site and it was very snug. I returned it and got the medium tall which still was too tight. I am thin with a broad back but again I fit the measurements as listed. The suit seems well made and has good support but just won't seem to fit my build.
not true to sizing
I was excited to finally find some bathing suits I liked, but I must say I am disappointed with the sizing of all the bathing suit tops. I measured myself according to the company chart and ordered accordingly. I bought 3 different styles and all 3 were too small. Color and quality of how the garment is made is good. I ordered ... which was a good thing because I am long waisted My other hesitation is the pads in the bra cups are not attached to the swimsuit top. I have had other tops like that and when they are washed the pads move around and it takes time to get the pads back in place. One last thing, I must have missed in the description that the top has underwire.
