I had never even thought to order from Athleta before! After buying one, I am obsessed with this ... so much so that I bought it in 4 colors to mix and match with a variety of bottoms. I can honestly say that I've never had so much fun buying swimwear! Every woman hates trying on swimsuits, but trying them on in the winter months before a vacation is even worse... Athleta takes out the stress by offering the no risk return policy and you can try them on at home. I found this ... true to size - I'm 5'3", 120#, 34B and took a size Small. I actually tried the regular and tall length and can get away with either. I love the shirred material as it covers the bumps and love handles, and flattens out the tummy. I received tons of compliments from friends and my husband when I wore the tops recently in Mexico. I have never felt so comfortable in a ... top! The coverage was great and the halter tie stayed put even while swimming and jumping in to the pool. I cannot praise this top enough!
My go to bathing suit
I am thrilled with this ... has the most support and coverage of all my tankinis and I will use this one for swim lessons for my kids or anywhere I need to be more modest. It does have more material than the others I purchased, but it just feels solid so I don't have to worry about slippage. I am 5'5 130 lbs and the medium fit very nicely.

Received my very first Athleta order yesterday & I'm hooked! The Shirrendipity Halter ... BEST ... I've found! I ordered it in black & love it so much I'm ordering another in a different color. We're traveling to MI for 9 days, so I've been frantically trying to find a bathing suit that fits. I'm very out of shape due to a recent injury & unemployment, & to my horror NONE of my bathing suits fit--yikes! I've always been blessed with a flat stomach no matter how much I weigh or what kind of shape I'm in, but I now have a "stomach" for the first time ever--more than just a little "pudge" or "muffin top," sadly. Ah, aging--I guess things start to redistribute once you're almost 40! Enter the ... (my first). I didn't want to put myself thru the horrors of dressing rooms, flourescent lighting & salespeople as witnesses, so I searched for tankinis online. Ended up ordering from 3 different places & all are going back except this one. The shirring is like magic; it hides my stomach bulges completely! I was worried about the lack of support for the girls--I'm a C/D cup with quite a bit of droopage & usually need underwire + molded cups--but this top totally supports & lifts the ladies! Haven't worn it to the beach yet, but I did test it out at home by jumping around, running a bit & stretching--everything stayed in place! Also ordered the Shirred Bra Cup ... (which doesn't come in Tall), & while that looks good too, the girls actually look better & feel more supported in the non bra cup Shirrendipity ... Also, the material is to die for; it's feels incredibly soft, luxurious & well made. Huge bonus: when I walked into the room wearing this, the hubby's eyes almost popped out of his head, lol! He absolutely LOVED it & even encouraged me to order another one (that NEVER happens). I'm 5'9" with a long torso, 38C/D, & I ordered a Large Tall; fits perfectly! And because it's so stretchy & well made, I think I'll still be able to wear this once I get back into shape. THANK YOU, ATHLETA!!!
Great suit!
This bathing suit really is great! I think all swimsuits run small, so I ordered a size bigger than my normal size. (I'm usually a 4 and ordered a medium) But I love it. Super comfy and flattering. And the normal length is long enough to cover my post baby muffin top. :)
LOVE this ... top!
If you are tall with a long torso, this ... top is for you!! I am 6' tall with a very long torso, and this top fits perfectly. I bought a size 8 Tall. I also bought the coordinating bottoms to go with it. Everything is covered, with no flash of my tummy showing, even when I raise my arms. The halter style top is very flattering too, and I am an A cup. I will be ordering another one or two of these suits since the fit is so great. Thank you, Athleta, for designing a suit that truly fits tall women!

Just an fyi... I don't come to Athleta for swimsuits because I'm athletic, I come to Athleta for the tall size ... tops. With that said, this top fit me in my usual TallS/6, but boy was it snug. Not snug in a too tight-need a-bigger size way, but snug in a Spanx way. It also cut into my underarm which was uncomfortable and unflattering and was my main reason for return (I'm barely an Acup, so a larger size would not have solved the problem). I gave it 4 stars because the quality is there and the styling is pretty.
Flattering Swim top But long if your are a shorty
I love the fit of the Shirrendipity Halter top in the bust. The color is great as well. I am larger busted and ordered per the sizing chart. I am thrilled the support is more than I thought it would be. My only complaint is that the tankinis are not offered in petites, just regular and tall sizes. I can't imagine anyone would need this in a tall size as it is excessively long, and almost covers my entire swim bottom. I am only 5' 1", but other ... tops I have purchase from Athleta have not been anywhere near this long.

I am 5'7" 131 lbs, fairly muscular but don't like showing my stomach area after having three children. I was looking for a flattering and comfortable ... can play at the pool with my kids. Most tankinis I have tried were too short and boxy for adequate coverage for my long waist but I love the length of this ... did buy the Medium Tall just to be sure to have enough coverage over my waist. I love the feel of this fitted halter ... does show quite a bit of cleavage but I think it is still appropriate at the community pool.
surprisingly supportive and flattering halter
Usually halters are uncomfortable at the neck if I tie them tight enough to give any support, but not this one. Even with it tied very loose, this ... supportive and LOOKS supportive. I'm a B in the chest fit really well. Another suprise was the body of this ... It's VERY fitted/tight. Most other tankinis are too big for me in the body and I debated about whether this one was too tight. Honestly, I wouldn't mind if it was looser for ultra comfort. Overall, it was the best total package I could find and looks flattering.
There was something about the cut of this particular halter style ... just didn't work for me. I've worn the halter style ... top for a few years now and this particular top was just different enough that I found it unflattering to my figure. It may be because of the tighter fit of this top, as opposed to a more a line flare of other similar style halter tankinis, but ultimately, I returned the top together with the bottom I purchased to accompany it. My preference aside, the top was of nice quality, the color was great, and I would absolutely recommend it to others.
Way too small
I have other Athleta swimsuits, and wear a small. I could barely get this top over my head. I gave up, afraid I would never get it off! I am a 34B, size 4-6. Very disappointing!
